Web Systems Administrator

Rockville, MD

6-12 month contract with possible extension(s)

Our client has a rapidly growing program that is moving towards fault tolerant, high availability solutions. The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the Web server environments, including but not limited to, access management, performance, upgrades, and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of Windows Server instantiation, upkeep and maintenance (Windows and preferably Linux as well)
  • Actively monitor and administer the applications and hosting environments to increase efficiency, improve reliability, and minimize downtimes
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical solutions to environment related issues encountered by new and existing applications in the environment
  • Managing ASP.Net applications
  • Support developers with change requests, uptime/performance related issues, and access
  • Support end users with user and application issues
  • Documentation of work w.r.t bug reports, systems analysis, application monitoring, and common task reporting
  • The candidate should be amenable to gradual evolution of responsibilities with the Web/Server/Application Administration spheres

Education:

  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience with the following:

  • Required

    • Thorough understanding of the Windows Operating Systems
    • Familiarity with Linux, the higher the better
    • Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably AWS
    • Thorough understanding of IIS
    • Hands-on experience with hosting and running websites
    • Familiarity with windows networking
    • Understanding of networks and firewall systems
    • Troubleshooting issues based on user response
  • Preferable

    • Familiarity with ASP, .Net and classic
    • WildFly Application Server
    • SVN and Jenkins
    • Logrhythm Log and Event Management

Candidates should have the ability to conceptualize and implement creative concepts, excellent communication skills, be detailed oriented and work in a team environment.
