Randstad Technologies is seeking an experienced Vendor/Application Manager for an opportunity in Kansas City, MO. The Vendor/Application Manager will be responsible for managing a strategic vendor relationship at our client that includes the Dispatching and critical Positive Train Control (PTC) Systems.

Job Duties:

  • Manage Strategic Vendor Relationship with Technical Project Manager
  • Manage Production Operation Defects, Priorities and facilitates any issues with Network Operations Center (NOC).
  • Facilitates requests from internal departments related to the Dispatch application platform (hardware, storage, desktop, infrastructure upgrades)
  • Manages Prioritization list for Application Operational Issues; seeking input from Business
  • Manages Issues, Risk and Tasks with Vendor
  • Ensures Change Management processes are followed
  • Prepares executive and programs status reporting for Vendor Meetings
  • Creates and manages detailed deployment plan for Vendor applications.
  • Proactively communicates as needed to impacted team members and executive leadership
  • Ensure required documentation is provided by Vendor and stored in shareable location, includes PTC documentation, legal binding documentation, systems specifications, etc.
  • Ensures internal documentation of the Vendor Applications is kept up-to-date as capabilities changes.
  • Manages defects, enhancements and its associated development by Vendor; ensures requirements are documented, design review held, schedule is communicated and testing is completed.
  • Stays informed of Vendor Roadmap and capabilities
  • Prepares and provides metrics, status and feedback on vendor to aid in making informed, key decisions about Vendor.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 7-10 years of experience in information systems analysis, design, development and delivery
  • Proven experience as a project or application delivery manager (or other managerial position) working across multiple functional disciplines while delivering a complex program/project
  • Experience leading, facilitating, negotiating and building relationships
  • Proven organizational skills managing multiple priorities; proactive response and follow up
  • 5+ Years of managing a Vendor development relationship
  • Railroad Industry experience a plus
  • Ability to formulate decisions and direction based on information presented; ability to identify and Ability to see full picture vs working day to manage work more effectively
  • Aptitude to gain comprehensive understanding of applications being supported to allow for appropriate level knowledge of functional capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks across multiple groups with varying priority; proactive response is crucial
  • Ability to assess Vendor Performance and take appropriate action based on the situation; knowing when to escalate, challenge and negotiate.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle; advanced assume coverage of the entire life cycle in a given project from requirements to delivery
  • Effective written and verbal communication and follow up skills are a must
  • Previous use of SharePoint or like data repository
  • General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office expert level knowledge of Excel, working Knowledge of Access
