Title: User Experience Researcher on Google Shopping


Duration: 3 month contract position


Location: Onsite at Google in Mountain View


Overview


At Google, User Experience Researchers (UXRs) help everyone focus on the user. In this role, you will create understanding and empathy around user needs, stated and unstated, for your entire product team including designers, product managers, and engineers. You will do so by conducting primary research, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users primarily through live and remote semi-structured interviews and usability studies.


Your research will help us create useful, usable, and delightful new products and features for people as well as continually innovating on our existing products. You will inspire change within the team by delivering compelling, written, in-person and visual presentations on your findings. We are looking for an individual who has excellent communication skills, is diligent, detail-oriented, and can work independently.


Top Responsibilities


- Collaborate with stakeholders and understand their research needs


- Propose appropriate research questions and methods


- Create research plan and moderator protocol


- Organize and run in-lab and remote studies


Additional Responsibilities


- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data


- Create results presentations


- Produce highlight videos


- Present results to key stakeholders


Qualifications


- BA/BS degree in Anthropology, HCI/Computer Science, Human Factors, Psychology, or other related fields, or equivalent practical experience


- 2+ years of work experience as a UX researcher


- Experience conducting live and remote semi-structured interviews and usability studies


Nice to haves


- M.S./M.A. or Ph.D. in a related field combined with 2+ years of relevant work experience


- Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices


- Experience in survey design with a working knowledge of statistics and experimental design


- Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process


- Experience with end-to-end services and e-commerce platforms


- Effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills
