This is an extraordinary opportunity to play a crucial leadership role in defining, operating, and supporting the primary automated IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) server provisioning technology for one of the worlds leading financial institutions. The team welcomes leaders who have experience in best-of-breed technology and proven open source solutions to provide infrastructure cloud services for the enterprise (IaaS).

The IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) Operations Manager must see his/her role within the larger Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Cloud Engineering, having the accountability to provide operational and infrastructure scaling leadership and guidance for an enterprise-wide OpenStack installations which will become the main vehicle for instantiating virtualized server assets in the Enterprise. In this position, the candidate will manage a team of senior engineers and contractors who are considered industry leaders in their domains, including OpenStack, Nagios, Splunk, Security, Linux, VMware, and Python programming, as he/she helps to use their operational role to deliver the teams primary IaaS offering.

Specifically, the leader will manage a team to provide the end-to-end delivery of OpenStack capabilities that span across data center domains with specific focus on maintaining reliability, scalability, release and deployment integrity, monitoring and alerting, and upgrading OpenStack on short intervals. The individual will work closely with various internal technology partners in Engineering and Distributed Compute Services, with our primary vendor of OpenStack (HPE) and throughout the Wells Fargo organization to build and sustain long-term partnership with other leaders to achieve shared goals. The candidate will interact daily with individuals at all levels of the organization, including senior management and partners, and must possess exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills. The manager will lead a team accountable for overall OpenStack deployments including roadmap, documentation, release planning and coordination, and ongoing service metrics.

In addition to leading the team and the technology, this individual will also have budgetary, resource allocation, and people management duties for individual contributors as well as other technology managers.

The chosen candidate must have knowledge of OpenStack architecture, have a proven ability to work with Enterprise technology partners and across multiple technology domains in both automated configuration management and IaaS capabilities (compute, software, network, security, and storage). In addition, experience in a cloud computing environment will serve as a basis to manage delivery of operational systems, help prioritize engineering SDLC activities across multiple development teams, and own the end-to-end quality of the OpenStack offering at a very large scale.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technology experience
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience, in a technology environment
  • 3 + years of cloud computing experience
  • 7+ years of advanced scripting experience using Unix Shell Scripting, Perl, Python, Java, or PL-SQL
  • 3+ years of virtualization technologies experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Experience securing IaaS/PaaS private cloud or DevOps environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of multiple source code version control systems in working with branches, tags and labels
  • 3+ years of secure SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodologies experience
  • Experience with one or more Agile tools used for tracking user stories or backlogs, such as VersionOne and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • 3+ years of experience working in a large enterprise network organization

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Strong demonstrated ability or history in identifying opportunities to identify manual processes and automate them.
  • Work experience in data analysis of complex forensic log investigation as well as time-series metrics research
  • 2+ yrs in a highly-regulated Change Management environment

Job Expectations

  • Flexibility to address incidents as needed 24 hours a day
