Job Description

In this positon you will assist users in maximizing their efficient and effective use of corporate data marts. With regular guidance from senior team members, you will perform basic enterprise-class database activities including one or more of the following: database performance monitoring, query monitoring, query tuning, implementing controls, and assisting database users. You may assist with basic database design, programming and coding, documentation of policy and procedures, and other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with data warehouse users to help them make effective and efficient use of the corporate analytical databases.
  • Partner with vendor and senior Teradata DBA staff to trouble shoot issues
  • Work with senior Teradata DBA staff members to ensure all Wells Fargo policies and procedures are followed to mitigate risk.
  • Serve as first level Teradata DBA support to identify and remediate issues. Escalate as necessary to senior staff members.
  • Document Teradata database policies and procedures as required
  • Produce database usage reporting.
  • Participate in on-call rotation

Working hours will generally be during normal business hours. However, working hours can vary and this team member may occasionally be required to work off-shift hours to complete essential activities. These activities may be scheduled during the week or weekends. When off shift DBA support is required, the manager will work with the team member to adjust their normal working schedule to ensure a 40 hour work week. Team members, who are required to work off shift hours, will be eligible for shift differential pay for the off shift hours worked.

The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance and oversight, and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers financial needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of database design and administration experience
  • 1+ year of SQL experience
  • 1+ year of relational database experience
  • 1+ year of UNIX experience

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
  • Ability to work effectively in virtual environment where key team members and partners are in various time zones and locations
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of data management and infrastructure production engineering leadership, this includes delivering reliable and responsive systems, and discipline to continually root out issues at the core
  • 1+ year of Teradata experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Desire to learn from senior staff and grow in a complex environment
  • 1+ year SQL tuning experience
  • 1+ year DBA experience

Job Expectations

  • Ability to work on call as assigned
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
