Job Summary
This role is responsible for monthly invoice processing using the Walgreen’s TEM system. The role includes interaction with external telecom service providers (carriers) and internal business units.
The last decade has seen significant changes in the telecommunications industry with the use of technologies such as VoIP and cloud services and we are seeking an individual that has familiarity with these and other evolving services.
The role of the TEM organization at Walgreens is to ensure that we receive our respective telecom invoices for contracted services (ex. fixed wireline and wireless), import these into our TEM system, validate the charges per our vendor agreement and either issue payments or process billing disputes with our suppliers/vendors. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with enterprise AP/GL processing, internal cost allocations, enterprise-level TEM solutions and/or telecom carrier service invoicing and the telecom billing dispute process.
Job Responsibilities
  • Implements activities that support limited parts of the IT work function, and may include responsibilities in the area of technical operations, site operations, and/or deployment engineering, such as:
    • Supporting the deployment operation on the execution of plans on pre-release, upgrades and current versions of software.
    • Supporting the evaluation of compatibility of programs with existing communications hardware and software features.
    • Improving operation and monitoring of standard features.
    • Supporting area processes and interface requirements.
    • Assisting in data development and definition of acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborates with customers and advises about technical issues on active projects.
  • Identifies and determines likely reasons for problematic causes. Prepares accurate documentation and communication to facilitate elimination of problems and to create efficient fixes. Escalate problems and roadblocks as they occur.
  • Coordinates cross-functionally to accomplish assigned tasks. Interacts with team members and peers and may interact externally to provide semi-routine information related to assigned tasks.
  • May assist in live site support and incident resolution that may include on-call rotation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in a technical engineering role, such as software development, release management, deployment engineering, site operations, technical operations or similar.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 year of experience in Telecommunications OR a high school diploma and at least 4 years of managing Telecommunications expenses on an enterprise level.
  • Knowledge of the practices and principles of telecommunication systems and services invoicing and dispute management.
  • At least 2 years of experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization & with external vendors that include telecom carriers.
  • At least 2 years of experience with analyzing and reporting information in order to identify issues, trends or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • At least 2 years of experience operating in multi-site and multi-vendor telecommunications environments.
  • At least 2 years of experience with VoIP, MPLS, Mobility and Conferencing Services invoices.
  • Experience performing system administration functions with an enterprise TEM system.
  • Demonstrate an advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
  • At least 2 years of experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • At least 2 years of experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Audit telecommunications services against provisioning orders and issuance of formal disputes directly with suppliers if discrepancies are identified.
  • Work with the various organizations within IT and Telecommunications to provide reporting associated with provisioning and inventory management aspects with the TEM database tool.


Ability to provide administration and support for Walgreens TEM system that includes:
  1. Interfacing directly with our external TEM application vendor and internal IT resources to work on support issues and drive them to resolution quickly and efficiently.
  2. Developing field-level translation rules required to import billing data from periodic vendor invoices
  3. Resolution of failed vendor EDI transactions.
  4. Creation of new vendors in system.
  5. General management and provisioning associated with TEM system administration.
  6. Understanding and creating management level expense reporting to be used for departmental as well as enterprise budgets and financial planning.
