Job Description

Wells Fargo WWT Platform services is seeking a Technology Manager to provide leadership for application production support and platform management. This position reports to Head of Platform Application Support for Lending and Core Services and will be responsible for strategy and management of the Lending Services Technology platform and environment. This position will have overall accountability for the production stability, monitoring, and support of their respective portfolio of applications.

Management responsibility for this position includes Level 1 & 2 Support and all system engineering and infrastructure management within the Wholesale Lending technology ecosystem. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the platform aligns with WWT and Enterprise strategies, following standard platform management best practices and ITIL methodology. Oversee and execute enterprise processes such as Release, Problem, Change, Vulnerability Management and 24 hour Clock (24x7x365) to ensure platform meets processing SLA/OLA requirements.

This Senior Technology Manager will provide overall ownership and accountability for the delivery of production services for a set of applications within a functional line of business. Services are provided by L1, L2, and other supporting teams. Matrix alignment and management structure partnering closely with technology development managers to provide consistent thought leadership, trending, and proactive support initiatives. This individual will be managing medium to large teams depending on the complexity and breadth of the application portfolio.

This position requires facilitation of the relationship between the platform technology organization, Infrastructure teams and area development teams. Managing and supporting the platform operating environment in support of the applications within the Core Services technology portfolio.

This Technology Manager will function as the single point of contact for platform management and escalations and providing the appropriate technical solution planning including but not limited to sizing/estimating, tracking and managing the platform technology portfolio. This includes understanding best practices providing guidance and leveraging new capabilities within the operating domain.

Description of Work Performed

  • Active stakeholder management of the technology, business operations, development leadership & product partners.
  • Accountable for the effective delivery of the application support work load through services delivered by the L1 & L2..
  • Ownership of service maps - ensuring short, medium and long term application plans are understood and documented.
  • Ensure Operational risks to the service are actively managed through the risk systems. Raise SIAI if significant risk exists.
  • Actively manage vendor relationships from production support perspective.
  • Provide an interface into compliance/risk teams and accountable for ensuring delivery of compliance work through L1,L2,L3 etc.
  • Accountable for all service onboarding processes including permit to operate, send and build in the defined portfolio.
  • Drive continuous improvement work with L1,L2,L3 & Infrastructure teams to drive improvements to stability, client delight and operational excellence.
  • Create portfolio reporting to measure, report and improve service on a monthly basis.
  • Management contact for all incidents, problems, changes related issues in production.
  • Will manage vendor relationships and costs as it relates specially to production in partnership with the DEV mgr.
  • Day to day management of resource allocation and triage assignment of ongoing support efforts
  • Escalation/Point of contact for high severity issues
  • Resource skills assessments to bridge any gaps
  • Application support maturity strategy to drive down cost of service, address site and location strategy along with knowledge management.
  • Performance management and development planning for team members


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in an IT environment



Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 12 years of technology experience with at least 5 years in management capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior management in a matrixed organization
  • 5+ years of experience in leading or managing application production support teams
  • Responsible for managing releases which is inclusive of application updates, middleware / operating system patches and security improvements and in DEV/TEST and PRODUCTION environments
  • Forward planning of the release cycle and release window including creation, review and approval for implementation plan
  • Previous Wholesale or Commercial Lending experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of Wells Fargo risk platforms
  • Expertise in two or more of the following domains in terms of support
    • Infrastructure
    • Datacenter
    • Middleware
    • Application JVM/.Net
    • Database Oracle/ DB2
  • Demonstrated the capability as a change agent by transforming a service or function
  • Experience integrating Wells Fargo enterprise systems with vendor platforms and technologies
  • Foundational knowledge and understand of ITIL methodology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of platform technologies including network, distributed systems, desktop computing, and threat management technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of diverse platforms and operating systems, including current and emerging technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of creation, interpretation, or enforcement of technical baselines for multiple operating system platforms and applications
  • Exposure to Wells Fargo's Remedy Asset Management (PAC2000) application
  • Managing deployment and ongoing management and resolution of technical issues
  • Management experience in a large corporate, multi-line business organization
  • Ability to identify and manage complex issues and negotiate solutions within a geographically dispersed organization
  • An undergraduate degree or higher in information technology
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
