Job description:

Technology Manager 4 will be responsible for establishing and maintaining policies, standards, processes and support for Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). This role will be involved with and provide direction and leadership for major initiatives that span the technology organization.

This role will lead a team responsible for driving the enterprise SDLC and (ALM) standards and related processes. This role, along with his/her team, will partner with stakeholders multiple levels of leadership and individual contributors across technology and business lines to develop, publish, and maintain standards and processes. As the leader of this team, this role will have the highest level of experience and expertise in areas related to systems development and application management. This position will provide leadership and consulting to stakeholders and impacted areas as they assess and implement changes to meet the standards. Developing strong partnerships, balancing multiple priorities, providing strong leadership in a changing environment, and driving projects to completion in an expedient manner are all characteristics of a successful candidate in this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading teams that will drive cross-functional, enterprise-wide initiatives as well as providing enterprise-wide SDLC and ALM support
  • Establishing and maintaining policies and standards for SDLC and ALM.
  • Governance planning for new or revised SDLC and ALM standards
  • Identifying and minimizing risk in the development process.
  • Developing the appropriate processes to support the standards.
  • Educating and communicating SDLC and ALM practices and requirements to the application community.
  • Providing ongoing support for SDLC/ALM and associated processes.
  • Collaborating with other SDLC and ALM leaders to create a cohesive lifecycle process to make development teams successful in executing SDLC and ALM.
  • Building partnerships across EIT, including working closely with leaders of associated technology standards and processes.

This leader is part of the Enterprise SDLC organization within the Enterprise Application Portfolio Management organization. The Enterprise SDLC Policy and Process team will ensure that processes are defined and matured, managing consistency across EIT according to EIT strategic priorities and the Target Operating Model.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology experience
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience, in an IT environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of product or program management: development of roadmaps, strategies, and management of products ranging from concepts in ideation through to market delivery
  • Leadership skills including the ability to influence effectively in a matrix environment
  • Experience supporting or directing offshore teams
  • 8+ years of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to identify root-cause issues/improvement opportunities, and design approaches/programs/products to improve overall quality assurance

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in application development with a full understanding of SDLC and the application lifecycle
  • Experience in application standards for development and associated processes
  • 8+ years of experience in systems development and experience with various technical roles
  • 3 years of leading an application development team (direct or matrixed management is acceptable, but candidate must be able to demonstrate strong leadership of a team)
  • Experience in establishing an organization to provide support to an enterprise community (such as the development community).
  • Understanding of how policies, standards, and best practices relate to various components of application development.
  • Solid understanding of financial controls and risk as it relates to application development.
  • Ability to think both conceptually and detailed as needed
  • Ability to identify challenges, anticipate obstacles, influence and set direction, and resolve issues.
  • Ability to lead initiatives with high risk and complexity
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across the technology organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of distributed applications
  • Knowledge and understanding of mainframe applications
  • Ability to confidently articulate the value proposition
