Job Description

This position is responsible for direct/indirect management of 7-8 FTEs and supervises the configuration, testing, implementation, and user side support of software applications used by Data Center Management (DCM) as well as managing the Data Center Information Management (DCIM) Center of Excellence. This position maintains a highly collaborative relationship with application stakeholders within DCM and CPG, external software vendors, internal procurement, the application support team, and others who use and support the DCIM suite. This position oversees the diagnosis of program errors and implements solutions for resolution, develops time lines and cost estimates for new product releases, feature and maintenance releases, and manages to key milestones. This position negotiates with vendors regarding software/hardware procurement and maintenance, and ensures compliance with contract specifications.

By overseeing the portfolio of applications used by the DCM group, this position ensures the life cycle of these tools is managed in a common way, while ensuring daily operations, change requests, upgrade roadmaps, user administration, and vendor interfaces are integrated and operating costs are minimized. This position manages HR requirements for staff members including 1:1's, staff meetings, performance reviews, personal development, etc. This position understands the strategic direction of the mission critical facilities group by interacting with peers and senior leaders to maintain knowledge of emerging technology trends and utilizes this knowledge to drive business decisions and establish priorities and strategies consistent with business goals. This position reports to the Enterprise Data Center Planning & Engineering Manager.

Ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with the principles/practices of:

  • Developing highly collaborative relationships both internally and externally
  • Working knowledge of data center information management (DCIM) automation tools
  • Executing the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for applications
  • Working knowledge of data center operations
  • Project management, timeline and milestone management
  • Budgeting, contracting, purchasing practices, policies and procedures
  • Experience developing metrics, performing trend analysis, and benchmarking

Preferred location is Charlotte NC. Will consider Minneapolis MN, Saint Louis MO or Tempe AZ.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 + years of technology management experience
  • 4 + years of technology application management experience
  • 10+ years of technology experience
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience, in an IT environment

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
  • Data center experience
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships for products or services including: contract negotiation, oversight, and SLA management
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Knowledge and understanding of metrics based analysis: reporting and trend analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology project management: large, cross platform projects and programs
  • 5+ years of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Other Desired Qualifications

Working knowledge of Data Center Information Management (DCIM) automation tools

Experience with installation, administration, upgrading, support and problem resolution of software systems
