The Wholesale Bank Technologies (WBT/WHSL) Performance Engineering (PE) team is seeking a talented Technology Manager 3. The technology manager manages a medium-sized technology work unit or one or two smaller, specialized work units with indirect impact to organization-wide objectives. Works on moderately complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of numerous factors. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect work units directly and indirectly. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs, staff, and delays in overall schedules. Interacts with direct reports, customers and functional peer group managers. Typically has exempt staff and some lower-level managers as direct reports. Develops and administers budget.

This position is responsible for a Stress, Performance, Load and Infrastructure (SPLI) team in the ESQA Performance Testing organization. The incumbent will be on point to lead performance testing and engineering activities for the technology supporting one or more lines of business, where applications and services are consumed by thousands of consumers, both internal to the organization, and external customers, where systems process millions of transactions a day, working in collaboration with peers to move the organization forward to meet shared objectives. This position will be responsible for teams working across the United States and in India. Leadership activities will include the management of relationships with technology and functional testing partners, and as appropriate with their related business partners. Expectation is that the successful candidate will have the ability to estimate, forecast, and manage staffing levels, responsibilities, and priorities within the approved financial structure supporting the work. This is a challenging growth position requiring an experienced candidate who works as part of a larger team effort.

Preferred locations are Charlotte, NC and St Louis, MO.

Will consider candidates in other locations: Chandler, AZ; Minneapolis, MN; Winston Salem, NC.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technology experience
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience, in a technology environment
  • 3+ years of performance tuning experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading the requirement design process with both technical and business partners
  • 3+ years of Performance Center or LoadRunner experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology performance: testing tools such as: Performance Center or Load Runner
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies: used in waterfall or Agile development projects
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
  • Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
  • Ability to act as a liaison between the technical design staff and business requester to ensure all requirements are met
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business partners and project managers
  • Experience facilitating meetings with team members in various remote locations
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical design: ECM system design, implementation, and support at an enterprise level
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: troubleshooting technology issues with software applications
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology testing: methodologies and the software development life cycle
  • Experience developing and executing communication strategies by collaborating with large, matrixed teams

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 3 + years of direct report management experience including, but not limited to, assigning tasks, conducting performance evaluations and determining salary adjustments
  • 1+ years of experience managing a geographically dispersed team
  • 3 + years of Stress, Performance, Load or Infrastructure (SPLI) testing experience

Job Expectations

  • Flexibility to frequently be on call beyond normal working hours
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to attend training and off-site office events outside office hours
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
