Job Description

This is a highly visible and critical new role for the bank, as the bank strives to improve its business and technical capabilities in understanding and managing Conduct Risk. This role is focused on being the technology partner to Conduct Risk, specific to Enterprise Complaints technology solutions.

Conduct Risk is being managed through the new Office of Ethics, Oversight and Integrity. That office is responsible for ensuring that all Wells Fargo team members are working according to our vision and values, that team members and customers are protected, and that we value listening when team members believe the enterprise falls short of our goal of operating with integrity.

Within the bank today, Complaints are managed in a fragmented manner. Application development is aligned to the Line of Business (LOB) facing technology teams. This role will be responsible for working across those systems of record to define and drive strategy in partnership with the Conduct Risk office and lead a common services based solution.

The Complaints Technology Area Leader (Tech Dev Area Mgr 1) will :

  • Assist business heads and senior leaders of Conduct Risk with ongoing assessment of the technology environment as it relates to effective management of Complaints risk.
  • Establish a technology roadmap to support the operationalization of Complaints risk requirements across the enterprise.
  • Provide strategic direction to business technology program managers on technology required to support and manage Complaints risk.
  • Actively partner with business line senior executives in long range strategic planning and ensure integration and partnership of Complaints risk technology with enterprise wide technology strategy.
  • Lead the development of technology solutions to address complex business requirements to manage Complaints risk. This will be primarily accomplished through influence of technology teams across the bank that are directly aligned to their LOB business partners.
  • Provide strategic technology consultation to Risk & LOB management regarding business requirements; recommend innovations aligned with the current and future trends/directions of both business and information technology.
  • Assist technology teams across the bank to ensure they effectively manage and allocate technology professionals and financial resources to ensure that Conduct risk related projects are completed within committed time and budget and align with strategic objectives.
  • Mitigate Complaints risk to the organization, by effectively managing the integrity and efficiency of applications with significant interdependencies, interfacing with multiple channels and systems of record.
  • Monitor higher profile projects to ensure requests are met on time and within sizing, keeping all parties informed of impacts and changes
  • Provide management communication and escalation.
  • Lead, operate and respond to real time challenges, given the dynamic nature of the business and technology environment.
  • Be an effective change agent. Identify new and innovative ways to apply technology in order to enable business vision relative to managing Complaints risk.
  • The position will interface with various application teams, service delivery team and distributed systems team managers.

    The preferred work location is Charlotte, NC or Chandler, AZ, or Minneapolis, MN. Preference will be given to those candidates that either currently live in or are willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC or Chandler, AZ or Minneapolis, MN with limited to no relocation assistance. Remote work location is possible.


Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in technology
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience
  • 5+ years of experience delivering complex enterprise wide information technology solutions
  • 5+ years of strategic planning and development experience
  • 2 + years of experience creating and implementing strategic plans and roadmaps at the executive level for enterprise wide business initiatives



Desired Qualifications

  • Management experience including large/multiple application development efforts within a small-to-medium size line of business
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
  • Ability to articulate a complex problem, design, or build strategy
  • Ability to manage initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation
  • Knowledge and understanding of Implementation strategy development and delivery
  • Experience integrating Wells Fargo enterprise systems with vendor platforms and technologies
  • Ability to manage projects and issues involving multiple technology platforms
  • Management experience in a large corporate, multi-line business organization
  • Ability to identify and manage complex issues and negotiate solutions within a geographically dispersed organization
  • Ability to drive and lead organizational change in a dynamic environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Project) skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
