Work Schedule

Dayshift; flexible (M-F) 40 hrs per week

Position Summary

Develops, gathers, and disseminates technical information through the organization's communications channels. Drives the creation of instruction manuals, how-to guides, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information more easily.

Duties and Job Responsibilities

- Work with Subject Matter Expert (SME) to create role specific work instructions and revise when necessary.

- Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation.

- Work with operations to make Work Instructions and Job Aids easier to use and thus need fewer instructions.

- Organize and write supporting documents for systems.

- Incorporate assets, such as photographs, diagrams, and charts that increase users' understanding.

- Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals

- Standardize content across platforms and media.

- Create table of contents and cite sources.

- Release the document following final approval.

- Gather usability feedback from internal customers and teams.

- Revise documents as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling.

- Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the processes and the documentation requirements.

- Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.

- Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.

- Write easy-to-understand user interface text, and online help

- Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.


- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a technical writer.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

- Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines and schedules.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.

- Strong customer service orientation.

- Strong problem solver with the ability to present issues clearly and provide answers.

- Highly motivated and committed to excellence with a positive attitude.

- Ability to be flexible and work consistently in a dynamic and changing environment.

- Ability to communicate with diverse groups and individuals.

- Strong analytical skills.

- Proven working experience in technical writing of work instructions, process documents for complex systems (patient tracking computer systems, pharmacy systems and processes, Standard Operating Procedures, phone, etc.).

- Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.

- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.

- Excellent written skills in English.
