Technical Support Engineer

Located in St. Louis Missouri


Client seeks technical support engineers to troubleshoot software issues, log bugs/product defects, and work with our Support Department to ensure client's customers have an excellent experience with our software.

As a Technical Support Engineer you will be part of Sustained Engineering's product firefighter team with two overarching objectives.

  • First and foremost, be highly responsive to client's support staff so our customers have the best possible resolution of their support tickets.
  • Second, be the technical experts on client's products to answer routine and architecture questions for Support and our customers to free up our development staff to focus on fixing identified and reproduced bugs.

Duties (You Will)

60% - Troubleshooting

  • Attend calls with customers as technical backup for client's support staff.
  • Utilize product design and codebase knowledge to direct troubleshooting and expedite root cause analysis of software and environmental issues.
  • Troubleshoot product defects in customer environments.

20% - Identify Software Bugs and Defects

  • Work with support staff and customers to identify and log software bugs and defects for our cloud document processing and management software.
  • Utilize product design and codebase knowledge to help reproduce complex software issues.
  • Work with Support and Sustained Engineering team members to build reproduction environments for debugging and troubleshooting product defects.

20% - Product Firefighter and Expert

  • Become familiar with the design, codebase, and features of our software products.
  • Assist internal client's resources with product knowledge to ensure they are able to meet our customer's needs.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides to be used by installation technicians and by customer support representatives
  • Summarize and contribute to internal and customer facing knowledge bases


Must have:

  • 2+ Years of experience as a junior software development engineer, technical support engineer, support representative, or similar position.
  • Experience with C#, Visual Studio 2013 or newer, and .Net 3.0 or newer.
  • Experience with PowerShell
  • Ability to work with a small team (3-5) of Software Engineers and Software Support Representatives.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in the collaborative environment.

Prefer those who also have experience with:

  • Customer-facing support experience
  • PowerShell, HTML 5, TypeScript, and JavaScript
  • Object Oriented Programing.
  • Understand common design patterns.
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
  • Fiddler, Wireshark, and/or DebugView.
  • SharePoint 2010 or newer.

  • Candidates MUST be able to read C#
  • Candidates MUST be able to write/execute PowerShell
  • Candidates MUST be able to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Candidates do not need to have to be able to change code, just find issues
  • Candidates MUST be US Citizens/Green Cards - Open to conversion
