Job Title: Tableau Developer - Enterprise Analytics

Location: Chevy Chase, MD

Duration: 6 months contract with possible extensions


The Developer for Enterprise Analytics will provide expertise in the development of impactful analytics and reporting for use by different departments with specific focus on Financial reporting. You'll work with team members to design and implement robust, scalable analytics solutions spanning multiple departments. You will also bring expertise in several tools like Tableau, Python, Alteryx, Vertica, Oracle, SQL Server and PL/SQL. You'll participate in the systems development process, including requirements definition, planning and monitoring development activities, tracking deliverables and adjusting priorities if necessary, and communicating status to management.

In this role, you will:

Analytics and Data Management

  • Design and implement analytics and reporting workbooks including but not limited to dynamic reports, dashboards, drill downs, visualizations, etc.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization and exposed to Stephen Few and Edward Tuft methodologies.
  • Design and implement required interfaces to data sources as well as manage the ETL to perform data blending from multiple sources.
  • Assist with data modeling and query tuning to achieve maximum performance while retrieving data.
  • Build Tableau workbooks to perform visualization with trend lines, forecast and reference lines as well as build traditional variance reports and publish them on the server.
  • Implement action filters, context filters, data source filters, parameters and calculated sets while handling high volumes of data and also restrict data by users.
  • Serve as a technical resource for other members of the team in ensuring data processing standards, guidelines and procedures are followed.
  • Develop and maintain operational and system level documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to functional user community and thoroughly assess, analyze, troubleshoot, debug and resolve moderate to highly complex, high impact analytic and data management problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of available technologies through reading, training, webinars, conferences, networking and collaboration to solve business problem

Project Management

  • Work with the Project management team to support business process, analysis activities and propose new or modified ways of addressing customer requirements.
  • Exposure to agile scrum methodology.

Relationship Management

  • Work closely with internal customers and other IT teams to maintain excellent working relationships.
  • Interface regularly with the user community to understand their business needs and deliver solutions.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field.
  • Graduate degree is a plus.
  • Extensive background in visualization, data analysis, data management and analytics.


  • Expertise in architecting, designing, building, and configuring visually appealing analytical reports and dashboards using Tableau for financial users.
  • System analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, training, deployment and post-production support.
  • Strong data warehousing skills to analyze, extract and transform data to prepare for reporting using various tools like Python, Alteryx, PL/SQL or any other ETL tools is required.
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts, such as de-normalization, star schemas, etc.
  • Strong Exposure working with other BI technologies like Cognos, Microsoft SSRS, Business Objects and data engineering tools like ODI, Alteryx, Python, Informatica is a plus.
  • Familiarity with productivity tools like Jira, Confluence, Git, Agile, open source development is a plus.

  • We are looking for someone who loves working with data and generate impactful visualizations. We would like to see some visualizations you have created.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills to analyze data and reports, conduct research, estimate effort, develop reports, document and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated and goal oriented individual who has the drive to take the task to completion and shows the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Eager to learn new technologies and adapt to rapid technological advancements and business changes.
  • Excellent judgment skills required due to possible use of confidential data.
