This position will work 2nd Shift (3:30p-12a) Monday-Friday, though scheduled working hours are subject to change based upon business needs.

The candidate will participate as a high performing team member who is responsible for managing all installation, de-installation, quality assurance and problem management activities. This includes obtaining complete requirements from Engineers and ensuring that change requests, work requests and problem tickets are open and in place per the requested project schedule. This role is also responsible for all vendor engagements to include job jacket creations and handoffs as well as performing QA validation prior to closing out any work effort. There is a key partnership responsibilities with our internal DCM vendors to ensure that fulfillment activities meet DCMs required expectations as specified within our MBO targets. This role is the foundation of DCM and represent our core strength in how we manage our Data Centers and deliver our service to the enterprise. The candidate must be a subject matter experts on how work is being performed within a critical environment and ensuring that everyone working at our sites adhere to processes and apply discipline when performing any activity.

The Data Center Engineer 3 role provides technical systems support within a technology organization. Duties are varied and may include one or more of the following:

  • Provides support for complex technical issues and initiatives related to assigned applications, systems, databases and/or other technical products and services
  • Uses diagnostic and other tools to maintain, troubleshoot and restore service or data to systems
  • Evaluates service level agreement criteria and identifies gaps in current technology process
  • Participates in migrations from development to production, upgrades, installations and/or configurations
  • May write queries to extract data and validates data loads
  • Completes project sizing
  • Updates/writes documentation and procedures and assist with related training troubleshoots network, hardware and software issues using general guidelines, templates or direction from others
  • Maintains change or issue logs
  • Analyzes performance trends and recommends process improvements
  • Understands quality, security and compliance requirements for supported areas and reviews changes for risk to production systems
  • Participates in testing and updating the business continuation plan

On a regular basis they will:

  • Coordinate vendors and team members with installation/de-installation of server equipment including installation of associated power infrastructure.
  • Work with vendors (Cabling, EsMA, CPG) as well as end user to determine / resolve equipment issues that may arise. Familiarity with such processes as the server/storage decommission process including appropriate use of existing tools (STSP, NetZoom, DCM Online, HPNA) for documentation to ensure end to end completion of process.
  • Educate vendors and companion / partnering organizations with DCM's Critical Facilities Education Documentation as well as covering raised floor policies and procedures such as media management / control, hard drive removal / destruction and existing access policy.
  • Possess technical competency regarding data center infrastructure including space, power, device placement and cooling impact.
  • Provide review of network port activation/deactivation, coordination of moves/adds/changes, assign implementation tasks to Vendors.
  • Support efforts to optimize, remediate, and reuse critical space and power for future implementation to meet customers needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of systems support analysis experience
  • 3+ years of data center experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of technical hardware: systems engineering, testing and analysis of data center physical computing systems (cabling, network, and storage and server equipment)
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: high volume 24x7 mission critical systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of mainframe systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of network and storage requirements for servers
  • Knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure systems and internet technologies
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of data center: network designs
  • Knowledge and understanding of data center: critical facilities systems: electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Data Center Certification such as:
  • Certified Data Center Technician (CDCT)
  • Certified Data Center Management Professional (CDCMP)
