Role: Unisys/OS2200 System Engineer

Duration: 12+ Months

Location: Chicago, IL


The System Engineer - Information Technology is responsible for configuration, customization and installation of the operating system, subsystems and related program product software supporting a Unisys/OS2200 environment.

  • Analyzes existing system configurations, recommends and implements required updates
  • Troubleshoots and supplies corrective actions to system problems
  • Consults with other Systems Programmers, Applications Developers, and Operations in support of the business
  • Develops innovative and thorough solutions to complex systems engineering issues
  • Ensures system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency and reliability
  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools, and utilities
  • Establishes and communicates common goal and direction to the team
  • Acts as a source of leadership, training, and guidance for less experienced staff members
  • Applies product patches as required


  • BS/BA, preferably in Information Technology or Business or equivalent experience, education, or training
  • At least five years of experience as a System Engineer
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Service-oriented mindset in support of a critical 7X24 environment
  • Self-starter who undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge, planning and education
  • Willingness to dedicate time and energy to accomplish goals, tasks, assignments, etc.
  • Actively committed to continuous self-improvement, understands that different situations and levels may call for different skills and approaches. The successful candidate knows their strengths, limitations and recognizes opportunities for improvement. Seeks feedback, gains insights from mistakes, is open to criticism without being defensive
