The Portfolio Architect is a technical professional within the Wholesale and Wealth Technology (WWT) Planning & Architecture department whose role it is to work closely with Wells Fargo IT leaders and project teams to provide architectural direction, governance, and guidance for business solution projects.

Specific duties include:

  • Provide Architecture Guidance and Governance for assigned projects ensuring that they align with the WWT Architecture Strategy, Roadmap and Patterns, and properly leverage the appropriate development frameworks.
  • Serve as the Supporting or Lead Architect on select projects with accountability for the project architecture direction and the completion of all required Architecture deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project teams and other architects to define the architectural approach and design of IT systems, including technology and pattern selection, design configuration and, where required, definition of solution alternatives to ensure system design meets business objectives along with proper delivery risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with other WWT Architects on the definition of the WWT Architecture Patterns and Architectural Capabilities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning by working with business and IT leaders to develop IT solution strategies, roadmaps, investment plans, and cost estimates.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience; in systems, applications, or architecture

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the technical application of concepts, practices and procedures in the architecture of a single application or system component
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of applications: architecture, design, business functions, interfaces, dependencies, processing windows, volumes
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies: used in waterfall or Agile development projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical leadership including: strategic and enterprise architectural direction for an organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management principles: defining future state, gap analysis, and scope management
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience, with a minimum of 2 years in an architectural role
  • Demonstrated experience setting or influencing the technical direction for business solutions
  • Demonstrated practical experience applying a wide set of technical principles, practices, and procedures to design, build and implement complex application systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with SOA solution design and development
  • Practical experience with solution development with technologies such as .Net and Java
  • Knowledge of and experience with architecture standards and methodologies (e.g. TOGAF)
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and relationship skills, including experience presenting, collaborating and building trusted relationships with executive management, senior management and technical peers to influence direction
  • Experience working with technical partners to plan for future state of systems and develop roadmaps.
  • Experience writing code and/or ability to read code
  • Understanding of the Financial Services or Capital Markets industries, as well as the principles of securities trading
