Randstad Technologies is currently searching for a Desktop Support Coordinator for a client in the Richmond, VA area.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide planning, training, and support for periodic changes and upgrades to desktop computer environments along with other IT resources. Participate with project teams to develop and provide leadership for these changes as appropriate.
  • Develop regular communications for distribution to end users about helpful hints, resolution to common issues, internal and external training events, and computer security issues. Use email, website, and work with site staff to communicate topics effectively using creative media techniques.
  • Responsible for help desk operation and performance including answering telephone and email based calls, evaluating the appropriate response, and using a dispatch and tracking system to assign and track resolution. Escalate recurring and high impact issues. Manage and report support service levels for the IT organization.
  • Oversee external, off-hours, and vacation coverage support processes. Ensure open tickets are correctly resolved and process changes are made in the external support scripts as needed.
  • Assist with first level, 24x7 support for manufacturing and business users with local or remote computer application issues (1st escalation point for end users). Works with PC platform hardware including tablet, notebook, desktop, and server - specifications, setup, troubleshooting, and component replacement. Coordinate corrective and preventative actions - root cause analysis.
  • Support area training programs and awareness, development, education, and enforcement of corporate standards for security and safe computing. Working knowledge of key PC systems and software vendors & ability to specify, coordinate, and direct the activities of external vendors to accomplish business goals

Job Skill Set Requirements

  • 5 years IT experience
  • Very familiar with supporting Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 users in an office environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise business systems such as SharePoint, SAP, Lotus Notes, Outlook is desirable
  • Comfortable with remote and desk-side support and helping end users in a variety of office and manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn to support new software and to effectively engage vendor support as necessary
  • Project management skills including scope, time, cost, quality, risk, and customer satisfaction.
