Sr. System Administrator

Overview: Seeking a Sr. System Administrator to provide operations and management support as well as full life cycle engineering support related to server hardware and software. Abacus currently provides a wide range of IT services on the Technical Support for Arms Control and International Security (TSACIS) program within the Office of the Executive Director, Technology Division, Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation at the Department of State.

Major Duties & Responsibilities: Analyze and develop technical documentation detailing integration and system performance. Conduct performance management; capacity planning, testing and validation; benchmarking and systems engineering planning. Coordinate the activities of junior staff assigned to specific tasks. Provide server and systems infrastructure level support. Build and deliver Windows systems according to system requirements and project schedules. Provide proactive recommendations on areas for improvement and take ownership of this technology. Support patch management and vulnerability remediation across various systems, an integral part of the Patch and Vulnerability Management process managed by the Security Team. Provide support for other operational activities, including backup/restore, system audits, and troubleshooting/incident resolution.

Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in systems engineering for an enterprise level environment. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Microsoft certifications, such as MCSE or MCITP, or VMWare certs desired. Extensive experience installing and supporting Windows 2003/2008/2012. Thorough knowledge of Active Directory, including multi-domain environments; group policy and troubleshooting GPO issues. Experience with Powershell and other scripting technologies; HP Proliant servers and blades; and DNS/DHCP/IP. Experience with infrastructure management tools and implementing and managing monitoring solutions, e.g., Splunk, Nessus Tenable. Experience with VMWare, Symantec Endpoint Protection Server, and Acronis Backup Server. Experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs). Desired experience with Storage Area Networks, MS Exchange, Linux, and cloud environments. Must be willing to provide troubleshooting support as issues arise. Capable of providing guidance and training to less experienced team members. Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills. Able to prioritize and manage multiple work activities in a fast-paced environment and act professionally with all levels of the organization. May require occasional after hours or weekend work to support projects, maintenance, and upgrades. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and hold an active secret clearance.
