In this exciting role as a Senior Software Verification and
Validation Engineer you will work within the Medtronic RD engineering team
which is responsible for developing software for Medtronics next-generation
minimally invasive surgery [MIS] platform. This Senior Software VV Engineer
will develop and execute test protocols for software used in the MIS platform.
In addition, s/he will implement test automation where applicable, and evaluate
and integrate new testing practices and technologies.

complication-free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive
surgical solutions.

**SURGICAL INNOVATIONS** **is a part of MITG** **group** **and** sets
the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative
surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and
conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region,
and the head and neck.

**A Day in the Life**

+ Develops and executes software testprocedures and interprets/analyzes results to report and communicate softwaredefects. Works under general supervision and can work independently.

+ Follows internal standard procedures(SOP/DOP) related to software development and test processes.

+ Utilizes end user and product usage scenariosfor reference while executing software test procedures.

+ Applies basic knowledge of software VVmethods for safety critical, fault tolerant real-time software and embeddedsoftware engineering and formal qualification process

+ Applies test designs to developmanual/automated test cases

+ Applies understanding of test tools toexecute assigned tests

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors or Advanced degree in ComputerEngineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

+ Fordegrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies therequirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A).

+ Minimum of 4 years of experiencein developing and executing testprotocols for embedded systems if having a Bachelors degree or 2 years ofexperience if having a Masters degree.

+ Mustbe able to read and understand c code although programming experience is notessential.

+ Strongcommunication and documentation skills.

+ Strongemphasis on process.

**Nice to Have Requirements**

+ Experiencein testing software for electro-mechanical systems.White box testing experience a strong plus.

+ Experiencein automated software test using tools such as Vectorcast.

+ Stronganalytical, prioritization, organizational and problem-solving skills.

+ Knowledgeof VV methods for safety critical, fault tolerant real-time. software.

+ Knowledgeof IEC 62304 standard.

+ Experiencewith embedded real-time operating systems.

+ **Knowledgeof basic electronics, and ability to use common electronic instruments such as oscilloscopes,multimeters, etc.**

Manager or Principal Embedded Engineer WORKING CONDITIONS: Standard office
setting, clean room, surgical lab, operating room, pilot lab, external research
organizations, supplier visits, travel as required Based in North Haven, CT.
