The Medtronic Surgical Robotics
Operations team is looking for individuals who are innovative,
forward-thinking, effective problem solvers, data- and results-driven, and who
will continuously look for ways to improve processes to help achieve our
Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.


This position is in the northwest
suburbs of Chicago, IL and will report to the Surgical Robotics Director of
Operations. The Sr Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer will be a leader
within the Medtronic manufacturing and engineering team to support production
and development of the next generation robotic assisted surgical system.


This senior engineer will be a technical
leader applying an interdisciplinary approach in a system-level, fast-paced
manufacturing environment, guiding a team to deliver advanced technical
expertise and solutions to complex manufacturing and engineering problems. This
engineer will contribute to the development, manufacture, and repair of a
complex system that includes aspects of robotics, controls, imaging, multi-user
interfaces and minimally invasive surgical instrumentation.


This engineer will participate in both
the production test strategy and process, as well as leading debugging and root
cause analysis related to the manufacture of a complex surgical robotic
system. This individual will collaborate with software engineers,
electrical engineers, hardware engineers, reliability engineers, verification
and validation, and service engineers to ensure the system design meets system
and subsystem requirements. This engineer will also develop tools for
monitoring system performance, improving utility of logged data, manufacturing
efficiency and quality, and enhancing debugging.


**Asthe Senior Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer, you will:**


+ Definemanufacturing test plans, procedures, scenarios, and scripts and equipmentbased on requirements and design documentation.

+ Workwith the testing teams to develop strategies for system level product integrationand testing; including software, electrical, analytic, and mechanical aspectsof the system

+ Troubleshoot,debug and upgrade test systems.

+ Evaluateand apply design-for-test (DFT) and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and supportthe manufacturing test development effort to include test hardware (fixture)software requirements

+ Maintainworking knowledge of the system design and performance against the requirements

+ Buildon your domain expertise, act as a strong leader and mentor to the team and makekey technical decisions, coordinate objectives, and activities for theintegration team

+ Guidestrategic efforts to improve the software integration process and to influencethe software development process based on integration strategies

+ Communicatewith management related to project objectives, schedules, system performance,and integration needs

+ LearnSoftware Deployment procedures for all aspects of the robotic platform

+ Performroot cause analysis and debugging related to system level errors as well astriaging reported defects to identify impacted subsystems (software orhardware) and prioritization

+ Createand manage tickets related to software defects and integration findings basedon root cause analysis and self-identified trends

+ Contributeto the assessment of proposed design changes and impact based on test evidence

+ Providewritten disposition and evidence to resolve anomalies generated fromintegration issues

+ Providesoftware support and assistance during manufacturing processes

+ Workwith internal and external partners to develop manufacturing testspecifications, including interface requirements, test flow and strategy,measurement accuracy, and acceptance criteria


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Minimumof 7 years of relevant manufacturing test engineering or product developmentexperience, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience

+ Experiencereading software logs and interfacing with software tools

+ Workswell in a team

+ Developswork products that reflect highly professional standards

+ Demonstratesexcellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Fluencyin English required

+ Priorexperience in system-level development of a complex electro-mechanical system

+ Priorexperience with medical capital equipment, including troubleshooting andsoftware installation

+ Experiencewith Linux, shell scripting, software installation, etc.

+ Experiencewith electro-mechanical devices controlled by software.

+ Experiencewith MATLAB and Simulink

+ Workingexperience in full-lifecycle engineering programs and processes

+ Demonstratedskills in managing priorities and coordinating team activities

+ Experienceworking with multiple teams on concurrent, interdependent projects


+ Familiar with manufacturing test softwaretools such as LabView, Test Stand and Python.

+ Experiencecreating test automation with test measurement equipment

+ DFLSS or LSS certification

+ Working knowledge of SQC and gaugerepeatability and reproducibility

+ Process oriented and committed to continuousimprovements

+ Knowledge of relevant technologies including:

+ Mechatronics/ Robotics

+ Mechanicaland electrical interfaces

+ Communicationprotocols

+ Sensors,actuators, controllers

+ Kinematicsof mechanisms

+ Visionand display systems

+ Goodunderstanding of structured product development (requirements-drivenengineering, documentation, rigorous verification, etc.) Engineeringverification test development and execution

+ Understandingand experience with system reliability testing and service.

+ Experiencewith QNX and knowledge of C and C++.

+ Medicaldevice development experience

+ Knowledgeof medical product RD and clinical/regulatory process


**Working Conditions**


Standard manufacturing setting, pilot lab, external research
organizations, supplier visits


Travel and flexible hours as needed
