Enterprise Business Technology (EBT) provides development and support for the many internal systems used across the enterprise. The EBT Architecture & Strategy Group provides architecture services to the breadth of EBT. We work to influence the technology direction and standards of Wells Fargo technology and ensure EBT solutions are created in alignment the overall goals and objectives of EIT and our partners.

The Sr Practice Architect position will have the responsibility of development and enhancement of the current architecture practice including framework, processes, policies, and templates. The desired candidate will be a self-starter who will work independently, as well as report and demonstrate progress on regular intervals. They will deliver complete and accurate documentation of the systems researched and provide actionable recommendations. Additionally, they will have the technical ability and prowess to recognize areas where immediate corrective action should be taken and have the ability to develop solutions throughout the review process. They will think outside the immediate paradigm while maintaining enterprise standards and industry best practices.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop conceptual/high level business capabilities model (current, target state, roadmap) for living target architecture (LTA) framework
  • Manage all architecture practice activities such as pipeline work assignments, and metrics reporting
  • Collaborate with other architects, technology leaders, and business leaders in the enterprise for architecture practice evangelization.
  • Develop and publish architecture process and procedures using SharePoint or other tools.
  • Participate in audit activities related EBT architecture practice.
  • Facilitate architecture reviews for LTAs, Policy Exceptions, Architecture Design Artifacts (CAD and SAS).

The preferred work locations are Charlotte, NC but other locations such as Minneapolis, MN may also be considered. Preference will be given to those candidates that either currently live in or are willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC with limited to no relocation assistance. Remote work is possible for current Wells Fargo employees

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience; in systems, applications, or architecture
  • 8 + years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principles
  • 1+ year of SharePoint experience
  • 1 + year of Microsoft Visio experience

  • Experience influencing management on technical or business solutions
  • Experience with a wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures to multiple applications or a component family
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills
  • Demonstration and presentation facilitation skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years combined technical and business experience
  • 7+ years industry experience in building Business and Technology Capability Models
  • 5+ years of experience within an Architecture Practice
  • 5+ years of experience with Building Architecture frameworks for Blueprint or Roadmap
  • Experience building a new architecture practice
  • Experience with an architecture framework such as TOGAF, Gartner EAF, Federal EAF, Zachman
  • Experience with an architecture modeling tool such as Alfabet, Mega or Rational
  • Wells Fargo architecture experience
