Job Description

The EPMO Center of Excellence (COE) plays an integral role in maturing project management practices at SVB. The team works across the SVB landscape to provide guidance, consult, improve and train project teams on the use of methods, templates, tools and processes. The COE owns project management processes, governance, process improvement, automation, tools, templates, handbooks and job aids etc. The goal of the COE is to develop and mature project management practices across the Bank.


  • Partner with various stakeholders to understand the landscape of project management maturity at the Bank including project management processes, Tools, delivery frameworks, the audit landscape, portfolio management, project/program governance and the vision for SVB as well as the EPMO.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the Enterprise to streamline existing, or develop new, processes which aid the maturity of the project management practice at the Bank.
  • Prioritizes process improvement & transformation opportunities. Develop business cases various process automation and process improvements. Manage the delivery of the process improvement solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in management reporting, metrics, and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with the SVB Enterprise Initiative Framework (EIF), IT Control Framework (ITCF), Planview PPM Tool and related portfolio management processes
  • Experience in developing, rolling out and maintaining enterprise wide project management frameworks.
  • Manages relationship with vendors and consultants.

This role requires:

  • Ability to understand and analyze Business processes across a wide domain.
  • Expertise in creating clear Business process maps and Business Requirements Documentation.
  • Good facilitation and interviewing skills to understand and evaluate Business processes for suitability for automation.
  • Have either managed or have been part of transformation initiatives including rolling out change.
  • Project management fundamentals: advanced knowledge of project management/project management office (PMO) best practices from an enterprise view
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements related to project execution.
  • Composure, charisma and confidence to engage with executive leadership.
  • Excellent People management skills.
  • Experience in creating KPI's , dashboards and metrics.
  • Experience in creating, rolling out enterprise wide project management frameworks, templates.

Skills & Competencies

  • 10+ years' experience in process mapping, process improvement, process re-design, project management methodology development and/or strategic program management experience
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks with a high attention to detail
  • Computer literacy with mapping, spreadsheets, word processing and database software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Exposure to delivering in both Agile and Waterfall methodology
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills , including excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to creatively lead a team
  • Experience with project audit will be an additional plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
