Our client is looking for a Senior Desktop Engineer for a permanent opportunity in West Sacramento, CA.

Job Title: Senior Desktop Engineer


Employee Responsibility:


Customer Service Orientation - Proven ability to actively listen to user problems and requests, empathize, understand and resolve/fulfill their need.


Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and implement change to address them. This skill works both within IT and for our technology users.


Within IT, identifying common or repeating problems and identifying, presenting, socializing and implementing an effective solution.


With customers, identify inefficient use of technologies or unused features or offerings. Coach users on an individual basis. Recommend program(s) to evangelize better uses of technology.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.


Ability to work effectively in and leading teams (within IT Service Desk/Desktop Support, across IT and across the company) required.


Performance Expectations:


Understand business use of end user compute platforms (e.g. PCs, laptops and mobile devices) across the company. Distill use into a small list of use cases. Develop recommended solutions (e.g. platform standards). Ensure solutions remain current.


Makes, models and configurations of PCs, laptops and mobile devices.


Operating systems and application sets.


Leverage technologies (e.g. SCCM, GPOs, AD, MDM, etc.) to create and maintain consistent, stable, secure and supportable end user compute platforms.


Ensure the timely application of security patches across the enterprise.


Ensure enforcement of company computer policies (e.g. password policies, screensaver policies, default web pages, etc.)


Ensure end user platforms are optimally configured for the Client infrastructure and appropriate business systems.


General Responsibilities:


As a member of the Service Desk, partner with IT infrastructure and business systems peers, ensure ability to diagnose and resolve basic incidents as well as ability to identify proper escalation paths.


Design and maintain end user compute platform load image libraries including operating system and base image loads, software (all in use versions), patches, middleware, etc.


Accountability:


Proven ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve basic incidents as well as the ability to bring in additional resources (e.g. peers, vendors, research, customers, etc.) as needed in a timely manner.


Required Skills:


We are predominately a Microsoft shop (front end and back end). SCCM, AD & GPOs speak to that on the back end. We're largely Windows 7 on the front end.


Optimizing Windows systems in an Office 365 environment should be added as a requirement.


Experience supporting engineering systems (e.g. CAD, BIM, etc.) a plus.


Educations/Experience:


4-year degree in computer science and/or related field. Experience in similar role can substitute for degree.
