Role Summary

Senior Engineers provide not only technology leadership on products, but provide strong mentorship and career growth for engineers downstream. Engineers at this level have significant experience with designing, developing, and iterating on web technologies and can demonstrate grace under pressure as it relates to agile delivery of high-value properties. They will have multiple years of experience on high-caliber teams and will have worked on functional web application across a variety of platforms. This role will lean toward mentorship of lower level engineers and their career growth. Backend Sr. Engineers should be familiar with backend JavaScript technology. Ideal candidates should have experience with various backend architecture such as event-driven, domain-driven, MVC, developing web applications, exposure to AWS or Azure. Sr. Engineers will take projects from ideation to execution, and will own them at each step. They will have complete technical autonomy to implement solutions as they deem appropriate to the business/product needs. They will collaborate with brands and internal stakeholders as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work with your agile team to test features to ensure high quality delivery that conforms to the user story acceptance criteria. Must be able to work in highly iterative development cycles
  • Strong focus on collaboration and enablement of team based development
  • Make strategic design and architecture decisions related to core, and new, functions and features
  • Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting during development
  • Continually improve code and determine if there are better ways or technologies to introduce to the team
  • Participate in peer reviews for software development project deliverables
  • Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned Architects
  • Review and provide feedback in defining development standards
  • Coach and Mentor other Engineers in the team on best practices, technology and design
  • Strong verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in team-based development projects

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working as a Team lead in a big team with a large enterprise with global presence
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a back-end developer, responsible for designing complex back-end implementation
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum setting, including partnering with business analysts, other developers and testers, and implementing solutions
  • Experience with NodeJS and/or strong Golang, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Must understand Web Services (REST/JSON and SOAP/XML), Security for back-end applications and front-end application integration
  • Experience building back-end services for multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Environment (S3, EC2, Lambda) or Azure
  • Exposure to CI/CD, DevOps
  • Exposure to NoSQL DBs - MongoDB, DynamoDB, CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Exposure to REST API design, Message queues etc.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as Chai/Mocha
  • Knowledge of GitHub, Google Design Sprint
  • Ability to understand and pick up new tools and technologies quickly
