Engineering client is looking for an Environmental Monitoring Specialist to coordinate environmental compliance efforts, permitting, and field-based environmental activities in support of electrical utility transmission line construction projects throughout Florida. Client is looking for candidates that are local to the Lake Mary, FL area or willing to commute.

Responsibilities for the Specialist

  • Interfaces with Project Personnel, as well as Subcontractors, in areas related to environmental compliance and permitting matters
  • Provides Environmental orientation training to personnel requiring access to project work areas (i.e. construction crews, deliveries, construction managers)
  • Compiles daily environmental inspection forms
  • Completes daily environmental inspection forms documenting construction compliance with permit requirements
  • Maintains records of Environmental Non-Compliance Reports (ENCR) and completes adequate follow up and mitigation recommendations
  • Resolve audit findings from Governmental Authorities or Clients and internal audits
  • Investigates all significant environmental incidents that occur at the work site to determine their cause and means to prevent re-occurrence at the work site
  • Maintains records and files relating to permits required for the work, including original copies of the permits and any pertinent correspondence
  • In conjunction with Site Manager, report all incidents, including regulatory reportable and non-reportable spills to the appropriate agency and project personnel
  • Develops Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) that are in compliance with project environmental requirements
  • Understands the permits and regulatory changes and associated timelines impacting the projects
  • Provides oversight to Field Environmental Monitors during work in sensitive areas
  • Develop and implement a stake holder outreach and management plan to support project developments through siting, permitting, construction and close outRequirements for the Specialist

    • You need 3+ years of experience as an Environmental Scientist, Permitting Specialist, or similar title with a focus on developing permitting strategies and schedules
    • BS degree in a natural resources field, environmental science, water quality, biology or related field from an accredited program is needed
    • Experience developing permits for transportation, transmission line or similar 'linear construction' projects in Florida would be a PLUS
    • Experience working with utilities is a plus
    • Ideal background is in environmental compliance during construction<Benefits for the Specialist
