job summary:

Company is looking for an experienced Architect for a contract opportunity. Carmel, IN is the preferred location but Eagan, MN would be considered for the right candidate (with some travel to Carmel). This individual will be responsible for communicating, coordinating and documenting key portions of Company Architecture by working with Architecture team members, key vendors and operations staff.

The ideal candidate is confident working with the data, application, and infrastructure domains, and is comfortable communicating with a diverse set of stakeholders.

*We need this person to be more solution focused rather than strategic. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is at the intersection of Solution Architecture (in the Data and App domain) and Technical Writer. It is not helpful to us to find someone that is not in the weeds...(Need hands on approach)

Company has decomposed our Reference Architecture into 3 tiers:

1. The Reference Architecture landing page decomposes the architecture landscape into domains such as:

a. Data Services (Stores, Data Processing, Data Governance & Management, Data Access, and Data Protection)

b. Platform Services

c. Integration and Event Management

d. Operate, Protect & Improve (Operations, Identity and Access, SecOps, Service Ops)

e. Plan, Build & Deliver (DevOps Delivery, Service Delivery, IT Planning)

f. Infrastructure Services (Collaboration, Infrastructure Services)

2. Next is a Blueprint where each domain is then decomposed into a component view

3. The lowest tier makes up the standards library which consists of:

a. Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) - a lightweight record explaining the context, decision, status, and consequences

b. Bricks - define the lifecycle state (retirement, containment, mainstream, or emerging), a definition of the standards, and usage and/or implementation guidance

c. Usage Patterns - similar to an ADR, focused on patterns rather than decisions

Required:

- 5+ years of enterprise-level Application and/or Data Architecture experience

- Experience developing, documenting and communicating strategic-level Architectures, along with the components and decisions that comprise that architecture

- Must have background of hands on experience with application and data delivery practices and knowledgeable enough to have in-depth discussions with experts

- Strong understanding of Data Services including streaming data patterns and frameworks, metadata management, and a variety of data stores (relational, NOSQL, NewSQL, etc.). Also, a strong understanding of Application, Platform, and Runtime Services along with Application Support and Enablement including knowledge about IaaS/PaaS, security operations, service operations, observability, etc.

BEHAVIORAL: We need this person to be more solution focused rather than strategic. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is at the intersection of Solution Architecture (in the Data and App domain) and Technical Writer. Hands on approach.
