The Solutions Architect is a highly seasoned hands-on senior technologist with knowledge and skills that are both broad and deep. This person will have complete ownership of the solution for a project; this includes defining and documenting the logical architecture/design for all components across the architectural landscape. This person will apply strong subject matter expertise to identify and translate business and system requirements into software architecture and design artifacts and documents; ensuring that the proposed solution addresses all the requirements and aligns with the future-state, enterprise-level architecture. This person will serve as an advisor to the project teams throughout the SDLC. This person will be act as a leader within the Application Development practice as well as the broader IT organization. This person is a key driver for the project or release and provides a vital link between the business and IT.

# Responsibility

  1. 60% Development and Oversight of Solution Architecture
  2. 30% Drive technical direction via hands-on prototyping and software development consultation.
  3. 10% Strategic Architecture Planning

Non-Essential Job Functions

Scope/Financial Responsibility

This person will be expected to work diligently to meet project timelines. Periodically, this person will be required to work overtime and/or provide periodic off-hours support. This person will be responsible for the timely submission and management of timesheets. This person may have input to the capital and/or operational budgets.

Travel Requirements

1-4 times domestic travel per year.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  1. Education: BS in Computer Science/Information Systems or Engineering

  1. Training / Certification requirements: None

  1. Knowledge and skills:

  • Critical thinker with exceptional analytical, logical reasoning and problem solving skills

  • Ability to readily learn and adapt to new technologies, industry trends, and lead the implementation of proposed solutions using hands-on development

  • Strong ability to plan and lead Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions and collaborate with both technical subject matter experts as well as business analysts and stakeholders

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design concepts and experience designing solutions as part of a Services-Oriented-Architecture (SOA), Microservices Architectures, and Cloud-base architecture for high-availability systems

  • Strong modeling and documentation skills including conceptual models, data models, orchestration models, service/activity diagram, etc.

  • Strong understanding of multiple architectural views, such as those in the 4+1 view model or the Zachman Framework; experience creating different views as part of a comprehensive solution design

  • Strong understanding of architectural design patterns and how to apply them in the most practical manner into an overall solution design

  • Demonstrated experience in test driven development and CICD software engineering practices

  • Ability to lead and drive the evolution of solution architecture as a member of an agile technical team that works closely with the product owner and scrum master

  • Excellent working knowledge of: Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint

  • Excellent background and knowledge of web-based/commerce applications, architectures and technologies

  • Excellent knowledge and experience working with leading edge development and database platforms

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, configuring and implementing solutions in Salesforce's Force.com platform. Practical working knowledge of integrating Salesforce's Service Cloud, SalesCloud and Communities platforms with external applications

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Exemplary teamwork skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills

  • Self-sufficient: able to initiate, prioritize, and complete assignments with little to no supervision

  • Ability to lead and influence broad, cross-functional teams

  1. Job experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience designing, developing and implementing multi-tiered solutions as a developer, tech lead or analyst (discipline may vary)
  • Experience serving as a project architect or lead architect on at least 2 large scale, enterprise wide projects
  • Strong working knowledge of software engineering, development and integration practices
  • Experience working in an agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFE frameworks.) SDLC model.

  1. Technology Requirements:

Depth and Breadth of Experience across multiple technologies such as:

  • Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, MEAN stack
  • Tomcat, WebLogic
  • Oracle, MongoDB, IMS, DB2, SQL
  • HTML, JavaScript and modern UI frameworks for RWD
  • Salesforce Development - Apex, Visualforce, SOQL, REST, SOAP & Streaming APIs
  • Informatica ETL
  • OBI, SAS

  1. Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in developing applications for Hospitality Industry preferred.
  • Experience in consulting/contracting as a Solutions Architect
