AML Quantitative Analyst I (1705042)

As part of a team she/he will work in a strategic area to develop models, metrics and control that the Bank uses on a regular basis to identify potential hazardous transactions related to Money Laundering activities. The candidate will develop quantitative models and metrics to deliver prompt alerts when a risk arises. Applicants should have extensive experience in quantitative modeling, with a solid understanding of statistical techniques.

Position Duties:

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) modeling team is responsible for all AML models. Every new model has to be properly designed, tested, validated and approved before it can be used to identify potential money laundering and terrorist financing and every existing model has to be periodically monitored, calibrated and if necessary, modified or replaced, once it has been properly validated and approved.

Accordingly, the associate in this position should be able to perform any of the following activities: data mining, analyze large databases, perform specified modeling tasks, create specified modeling codes, document data mining, procedures and models and work with AML users and other team members on modeling related issues.

The quantitative nature of the position also requires creativity in model construction and proficiency in programming (SAS and/or SQL).

This position interacts with internal stakeholders, therefore excellent communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise documentation dealing with highly technical subjects is a must.

Design and develop statistical analysis of other AML processes and data, Develop statistical analysis in support of other AML related projects and initiatives, Create documentation needed from results of the quantitative analysis for all high risk AML models. Accurate, concise and high quality documentation need to be delivered, Develop quantitative statistical analysis of the source data to produce and/or validate AML models, Design and develop quantitative analysis to support the development, validation and implementation of AML models. Those models must be capable to identify potential hazardous transactions


Bachelors or Master's degree in physics, math, finance, statistics or other related field with programming skills and 1-2 years related quantitative analysis experience or PhD.

1-2 years related quantitative analysis experience including probability theory, regression analysis, experimental design etc.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clear and detailed technical writing and presentations.

Strong skills in developing and supporting sophisticated risk models and methodologies.

Skilled in data mining.

Skilled in programming with SAS and/or SQL.

Strong time management skills.

Team player with a can-do and creative attitude.

Specialized Knowledge:

Experience in large databases and database design, Good understanding of modeling techniques, Knowledge of statistical analysis tools SAS, R, SPSS etc, Strong background in the use of statistical analysis tools and quantitative theory, Strong knowledge of statistics and numerical techniques, Strong skills in written documentation, Team player, prepared to work under pressure close to deadlines., Technology skills encompassing spreadsheet and database work., Understanding of various database architecture SQL, Oracle etc.
