Client's Production Services & Architecture (PS&A) team is responsible for all architecture, engineering and infrastructure operations of our core technology assets as part of a streamlined, strategic approach that ensures low cost, high quality delivery from initial architectural decisions through engineering to long-term operational support. The PS&A team collaborates closely with our business-aligned partners in technology and with key stakeholders across the enterprise.

As a Senior Network Engineer for firewalls you will have the opportunity to participate in the engineering of client's enterprise security environment. In this role you will work closely with Engineers and internal customers to leverage applicable best practices for security design and enterprise business solutions. Your role will be responsible for periodic escalation support in a 24/7 environment addressing complex production impacting technical issues.


- Translate security architectures and project requests into engineered designs for the enterprise security environment

- Implement defense-in-depth methodology for all new systems and services

- Integrate security architectures with cloud services vendors

- Use proven technologies within architectural guidelines to develop solutions that expand services across the client base

- Leverage applicable best practices for security design and enterprise business solutions

- Conduct network assessments to validate an enterprise baseline and provide context for future network direction

- Work with outsourced vendors to drive technical accountability of network standards, baselines, architecture, and solutions engineering

- Work with outsourced vendors to drive sound engineering designs, and configuration templates

- Participate in technology governance boards and/or councils

- Generate conceptual, logical, and physical Security architectures, documents, testing analyses, test plans, and risk assessments to ensure a sound architecture that meets client needs

- Perform operational load balancer and DNS operational duties including server and global load balancing changes, iRule development, DNS changes, environment troubleshooting, and certificate management. Assist with documenting these procedures.

- Participate in load balancer environment build activities.

- Create standard configurations and iRules based on customer requirements.

- Configure Local Traffic Manager Virtuals, Profiles, and Policies.

- Create, Manage, and Deploy SSL Certificates.

- Troubleshoot settings and policies as they relate to customer configurations.

- Configure Global Traffic Services and Policies.

- Take responsibility for meeting commitments and meet solutions by deadline.

- Build respectful relationships with team members; consistently acknowledge and appreciate each member's contributions.

- Provide quality customer service; help provide workable solutions.

- Keep track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members.

- Promote innovation, creativity, and effectiveness, always striving for continuous improvement.

- Collaborate with Network Engineering and Information Security teams


Required Experience:

- Two or more years of networking and firewall experience

- Palo Alto ACE Certification or equivalent experience preferred

- Experience with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA platforms

- Experience with layer 2 and layer 3 firewalls

- Basic knowledge of DNS and DNS Infrastructure.

- Understanding of Access Policy Manager (APM) and Application Security Manager (ASM) modules.

- Understanding TCP/IP, routing, and application development lifecycle concepts.

- Application and network troubleshooting skills required.

- Ability to effectively communicate network concepts and network challenges to both technical and non-technical people.

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.

- Previous experience with F5 global and local load balancing, iRule creation, SSL and persistence profiles

- Experience creating, troubleshooting and supporting multi-site, multi-tier environments

- Bachelor's degree Computer Science or Information Technology or similar experience. Usual candidates have more than 3-5 years of experience. 4 years of additional related years of experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.

Desired Experience:

- Knowledge of Next Generation Firewalls.

- Previous experience with App-ID and User-ID, Panorama, PBR, NAT on Palo Alto and Cisco ASA platforms

- General understanding of Switching, Virtual LAN Switching, L2 Bridging and STP, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, Cisco Nexus

- F5 Certified Big-IP Administrator preferred

- Experience with AppviewX, Infoblox, and Venafi is a plus.
