The Application Systems Engineer (ASE) 4 is part of the Electronic Trading Team (FX specific) within the Wholesale Technology Group. The ASE 4 role will act as a lead in providing server based design guidance and consultation, particularly in the area of, System Integration, Performance Evaluation and Application scalability and Resource refactoring, based on utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools such as Python, Core Java and existing designs. In addition, this individual will work with technical leads, Architects, business analysts, system and process analysts, DBA's, infrastructure and other cross-department teams to evaluate business needs and provide end-to-end technical solutions.

Responsibilities of this Application System Engineer position may include:

Design and create test scripts to address areas such as database impacts, functional scenarios, regression testing, and negative testing and bug retests. Candidate will need to work closely with QA and Development teams to understand changes to the architecture, prepare reusable functions and reduce time to market through automated testing. Successful execution of the role will require strict attention to detail as well as good partnership with development and QA team members to understand testing objectives and ensure that problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. Candidate is expected to document, track and escalate issues as appropriate, using Quality Center or JIRA Relevant work experience in development and/or testing role with a focus on implementing and designing automated test scripts in a fast paced environment. Relevant work experience in continuous integration. Capital Markets experience is a plus with working knowledge of Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income asset classes. Good development/scripting skills in common languages like VB(VBscript), JAVA(JavaScript), PERL, Python, Unix shell scripting, C++, etc. Database skills, mainly in Oracle and SQL Server Good experience with different Operating Systems, with emphasis on Unix / Linux Good understanding of object -oriented programming, J2EE architecture, .NET, etc. Excellent Knowledge of automated testing tools like QTP, Python Robot framework, JSON, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience selecting/developing a test automation framework and hands on test automation scripting Experience automating WPF client server applications. Experience writing low-level (non-UI) automated tests(messaging layer and processing) A strong interest in testing and the hands-on ability to conduct end to end testing process throughout the entire SDLC from test planning, test design, test execution, and test reporting. Work closely with the lead tester onsite and coordinate with the other groups onsite, offshore Possess strong communication skills Work closely with internal/cross functional teams (QA Manager, QA team, Development, BA, Project Management, etc...) to help issues get resolved. Ability to quickly ramp up on new projects and be able to multi task between different projects as needed Experience using SQL for test setup and validation Experience with a Test-Driven Development Experience with Agile principles and Scrum/Lean practices Must have hands on experience on ALM Hands-on and Strong knowledge of JIRA / Rally.

Candidate will need to work closely with development teams to understand changes to the architecture that may produce bug fixes and enhancements to the Electronic Trading services. Successful execution of the role will require strict attention to messaging detail around environment configuration for the regression tests, involving multiple environments and teams.

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 2 + years of experience in Interest Rate Electronic Trading Testing within multiple ECNs and know Tier Pricing methodology in detail.
  • 5 + years of experience with analyzing reference data.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) analysis in the financial services industry(Capital Market Specific)
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
  • Ability to communicate confidentially and professionally
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

  • Experience performing quality assurance audits.
  • Strong working Knowledge of Automation Frameworks (Server (Linux/Unix/Python)) and Client (UFT/ALM ).
  • Able to work along with Capital Market hours. On occasion be able to work IST hours based on demand and coordination with team members in Offshore.
