We have a direct FTE role for a Senior Director, Global Business Systems with a client of ours in Cary, NC.


The Senior Director, Global Business Systems, manages the entire enterprise application portfolio from strategy and project concept through retirement. The candidate will lead global applications in support of all business areas such as finance, accounting, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing.


This person will directly report to the CIO and partner with business unit leadership to drive IT strategy and contribute to business unit operational strategy. This position can be based in Cary, NC.


The candidate is accountable for all activities around global enterprise applications including ERP, BI, CRM, PLM across all commercial and functional business areas.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead the coordination, strategic planning, management, maintenance, and deployment of enterprise applications such as ERP, BI, CRM, PLM, and manufacturing/operations systems.
  • Lead a global team of internal and 3rd party resources performing global implementations of software solutions, including researching and recommending new technologies, maintaining current knowledge, and understanding pertinent technology trends, always providing best practice guidance to internal and external partners.
  • Implement global ERP consolidation activities to improve operations, and user productivity throughout the company, while reducing costs.
  • Develop a BI Strategy considering both financial and operational systems. Build and execute a plan to consolidate tools. Drive to harmonize customer, product, and vendor master data.
  • Through the delivery of technology solutions, drive ERP maturation efforts by adding new capabilities to reduce the financial close activities.
  • Align technology solutions to business process definitions in areas such as order-to-cash, plan-to-produce and purchase-to-pay.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in the areas of systems analysis, software and database design, software development, and software release management successfully following the SDLC and compliance processes.
  • Work with CIO and other IT leaders to develop overall IT strategy in the context of the business strategy.
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
  • Develop productive relationships with IT business relationship leaders, and business leaders across the organization to influence how applications can enable new sources of value.
  • Develop and enhance methodologies and practices in the area of application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that applications processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.
  • Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.
  • Ensure the applications cost-effectively meet the needs of the business as a whole:
  • Oversee the assessment of the technical and business fitness of the application portfolio and their associated costs and risks.
  • Participate with stakeholders and the PMO governance council to define a prioritized set of business outcomes and application work to accomplish those outcomes within the limitations of the applications budget.
  • Work with stakeholders to accomplish application work in a way that improves the business and technical fitness of the application portfolio and minimizes its ongoing support costs.
  • Oversee the applications organization's successful delivery of business outcomes in partnership with business colleagues.
  • Oversee benefits realization to ensure the business outcomes are achieved.
  • Oversee support activities in conjunction with infrastructure and operations to ensure the applications perform well in production.
  • Work with the Information Security Director, and IT Compliance Director to ensure that the organization's applications are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the team including, interviewing and hiring, training, coaching, staff development, performance reviews and disciplinary actions. Build on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience.
  • 15-20+ years in Information Technology
  • 8+ years in demonstrated I.T. Leadership Roles, with heavy focus on SAP ERP and Business Intelligence.
  • 3+ full cycle ERP deployments with deep understanding of best practices
  • Demonstrated proven track record and strong program management, delivery, implementation, skills
  • Demonstrated business process knowledge in areas such as: order-to-cash, plan-to-produce and purchase-to-pay.
  • Technology visionary/leader with a strong understanding of cloud computing and hosting services.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including organization development, coaching and mentoring skills, influencing others and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated proven ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a matrix-management environment
  • Demonstrated proven ability to lead and manage all phases of an SDLC lifecycle
  • Skilled at vendor management
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, data processing and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading/championing process improvement projects to drive productivity.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including cultural sensitivity (this role is global and will interface frequently with the US, Asia, Europe, and South America)

TRAVEL: Normal expected global travel is approximately 30-50%.
