As a senior data scientist in Wells Fargos Enterprise Analytics group, you will be responsible for pushing the state of the art in organization-wide natural language processing (NLP) and speech analytics applications. As an in-house expert in NLP and speech analytics, this position involves working across Wells Fargo lines of business to determine useful ways in which NLP and speech analytics can solve critical business problems and satisfy customers financial needs. We are looking for individuals who are intellectually curious, self-motivated and have advanced knowledge of NLP, speech, machine learning and artificial intelligence tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Building, testing and validating machine learning models for production use with open source tools
  • Using cutting edge Natural Language Processing techniques to extract useful information from unstructured text data in various data sources, such as customer complaints, social media comments, financial documents and web activity
  • Mentoring a team of junior data scientists and collaborating on new research
  • contributing to and managing an enterprise-level code base for NLP and Machine Learning tasks
  • Scaling analytics solutions to Big Data with Hadoop, Spark/PySpark and other Big Data tools
  • As a Team Member Manager , you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Specifically you will:

  • Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.
  • Required Qualifications

    8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling3+ years of Python experience3+ years of SQL experience3 + years of experience using quantitative machine learning techniques3+ years of Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience

    Desired Qualifications

    Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysisStrong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracyExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsBig Data experienceExperience with Tensorflow, Theano or KerasExperience with design, implementation and governance with Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning Architecture

    Other Desired Qualifications
    • Strong ability to retrieve, combine and transform data from numerous information systems

    • Experience working with big data infrastructure with tools such as Hive, Spark and h2o

    • Ability to think creatively to find innovative solutions to complex analytical questions

    • Reading, understanding and implementing algorithms and other techniques from academic papers

    • Proven ability to take initiatives and drive each project to completion with minimal guidance while effectively managing multiple projects at a time

    • Ability to translate and summarize complex analysis into understandable, actionable insights and recommendations that directly drive effective business strategy

    • 2+ years experience operationalizing ML or NLP solutions

    Text Analytics:

    • 2 + years of text analytics experience

    • Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration

    • Knowledge and/or experience with the following:

    • Implementing solutions with common NLP frameworks and libraries in Python (NLTK, spaCy, gensim) or Java (Stanford CoreNLP, NLP4J)

    • Common NLP techniques, such as

      • Pre-processing (tokenization, part-of-speech tagging, parsing, stemming)

      • Semantic analysis (named entity recognition, sentiment analysis)

      • Modeling and word representations (TF-IDF, LSA, LDA, word2vec)

    • Data engineering skills (deploying analytical solutions across an organization in a production format)
    • Serving as an in-house expert on NLP and speech analytics, teaching others advanced techniques and using state-of-the-art methods
    • Experience with design, implementation and governance with Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language
