What You'll Do (Role Description)


We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to help scale, maintain, and improve our best-in-class cloud-based products. The ideal candidate is someone who has a solid and successful background driving architect, automate, and infrastructure on cloud and on-premise. The candidate will focus on Cloud infrastructure and work with multiple teams to automate, design, and architect cloud-based infrastructure and support production. The candidate will develop tool and strategies for networking, monitoring and automating infrastructure to support the company's goal to create the best in class SaaS product. The ideal candidate must have the passion for Cloud and experience in infrastructure as code, configuration management, monitoring and metrics and supporting production grade AWS infrastructure.


A successful candidate must have great communication skills, passionate, and think outside the box, and a sense of ownership. A proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining dependable, mission-critical systems and products is a must. A candidate that understands the self-service and automation in mind and can drive toward that.


Responsibilities:



  • Design, implementation and maintenance of a resilient, fault-tolerant, scalable, and secure global cloud infrastructure
  • Management of all globally available Mitek Cloud Operations infrastructure
  • Respond to production issues and drive the production to excellence
  • Configuration and administration of Mitek Cloud Operations systems including firewalls, directory service, and other services
  • Participate in on-call schedule to provide 24x7 support, troubleshooting, and incident management
  • Design, implement, and maintain the customer facing and corporate global data center technologies with a focus on Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)
  • DNS and SSL certificate management
  • Configuration and administration of MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, RavenDB including automation of Backup and Recovery
  • Implement and improving monitoring and analytics of the infrastructure, application, and services
  • Build and innovate tools or automation to replace operating manual processes, deployment, and operational tasks
  • Resolve problems at their root with simple and repeatable solutions
  • Providing support for development teams during analysis of performance issues and root cause analysis after outages
  • Design automated systems management solutions with self-repair as the goal
  • Deployment of new software releases in the production environment
  • Create processes that enhance operation workflow and provide positive customer impact

What You Need (Skills/Experience/Abilities)



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in Cloud Engineering and Cloud technologies
  • Hands-On experience with Amazon Web Services in production environment including EC2, VPC, S3. RDS, IAM, ELB, CloudWatch, Route53, EBS, ElasticIP, Lambda Scripts, etc,
  • Expert in Windows and Linux in an enterprise production environment
  • Containerization practices (Docker, Consul, AWS ECS, and related infrastructure)
  • Expertise in network architecture and security principles (e.g. load balancing, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPN, encryptions, etc.)
  • Expertise in designing high availability and disaster recovery
  • Monitoring solutions (Zabbix, Nagios) and Log Management (ElasticSearch, Syslog)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby
  • Experience using and developing configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code such as CloudFormation, Packer
  • Basic knowledge of CI, development and collaboration tools (Jenkins, Git, Jira, Confluence)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task
  • A drive for results and customer focus
  • Must be flexible with a "can do" attitude and have the ability to remain professional under high pressure situations


Nice-to-Haves



  • Relevant experience in operating a B2B web platform
  • Knowledge supporting and implementing Microsoft Active Directory Services
  • Understanding of infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, TerraForm)
  • Experience supporting Windows environments using Powershell or other management tool
  • Knowledge supporting IIS application servers and related technologies
  • Experience with Operational Automation tools such as RunDeck
