Job Description


Client IT's Infrastructure Management Group has implemented service portfolio management for IT infrastructure services.


As a member of the Service Portfolio Management (SPM) team for infrastructure services, the SPM Business Consultant provides service architecture and service definition support and coaching to:



  • Shared function team leaders
  • Service development or service change project leads
  • Service leaders and product managers


High level activities include understanding the current service portfolio and definitions, assessing and describing the roles and functions of organizations in those services; guiding the teams proposing changes to the service portfolio or definitions to better describe current services, and formulate assessments and recommendations to the executive level Service Portfolio Steering Committee for changes to the service portfolio.


This role will also participate in service change projects to assess which services are impacted by the project to assure that appropriate service stakeholders are involved in project oversight and decisions. Will support and coach project leads to apply approved Service Development Methodology practices for proposing new services or changes to existing services, and to formulate assessments and recommendations to the service lead product managers and the executive level Service Portfolio Steering Committee.


Detailed functions include conducting interviews, discovery or collaboration sessions, information gathering and analysis, best practice research, coaching in the approved service development methodology, developing and recommending alternatives, obtaining leadership or stakeholder agreement.


Essential Functions:



  • Research:


    • Research and summarize current functions and relationship to existing services
    • Recommend changes to service definitions or service portfolio structure
    • Research impact of proposed changes and make recommendations on relationship to existing services, stakeholders and appropriate course of action.

  • Coaching:


    • Understand and coach others on key service concepts and definitions
    • Translate and guide teams to understand their role in services and how to best represent their functions in service request catalogs.



Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:



  • 5 years' experience in a complex IT infrastructure management organization.
  • 3 years of IT service definition, service consulting, or related business experience.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with solution development methodology concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Effective leadership, meeting management, and consulting skills
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate interdisciplinary teams and individuals who are not direct reports
  • Must be a team player and value a collaborative environment
  • Proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Executive presence
  • Ability to simplify complexity
  • Some experience with service costing and service financials


Preferred Qualifications (but not required):



  • 10 years experience in a complex infrastructure management organization.
  • 5 years of service definition, service portfolio management, consulting, or related business experience.
  • 4 year degree in related field or equivalent experience in Management Information Systems or Business Administration
  • Demonstrated understanding of ITIL concepts with specific focus on Service Strategy, Request Fulfillment, Service Level Management, Service Catalog, Service Design
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills utilizing creativity and innovation
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, influence and work effectively with senior leadership and a broad cross section of stakeholders from multiple functional areas
  • ITIL Certifications
  • Highly proficient in the use of Sharepoint
  • Knowledge of Remedy 7.6 and corresponding workflow capabilities
