Overview:

The Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for performing system support and other analyst duties for a web-based system. Duties will include researching production support issues, identifying solutions and working with the team to provide production fixes and test through testing environments. Other duties will include documenting requirements, conducting requirement gathering sessions, analyzing documentation, maintaining the project's analysis knowledge base, writing use cases, mocking up web-pages, writing functional specifications, and developing process flows and activity diagrams. Duties may include interviewing customers, users, and other stakeholders. Candidate should be experienced with participating in requirements definition sessions as well as detailed analysis discussions. The business clients for this application are geographically dispersed. Much of the requirements gathering and definition phases will be performed on conference calls with occasional business trips for face to face meetings. This person may work directly with our business contacts, while taking direction from the other Business Analysts. The development team consists of a project manager, business systems analysts, Java web developers, a report developer, a data architect and an application architect.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 3 production support, Research production issues and collaborate with other team members to identify resolution and test solutions through the various test environments
  • Participate in requirements definition sessions
  • Document requirements gathering sessions, including minutes and detailed notes
  • Analyze and improve existing documentation
  • Maintain project analysis knowledge base
  • Comprehend Entity Relationship Diagrams
  • Perform Data analysis
  • Write use cases and other functional artifacts
  • Mock up web-pages
  • Develop process flows and activity diagrams Maintain technical artifacts including the requirements traceability matrix, use cases, user interface specifications, and other project documentation in accordance with department procedures
  • Participate in test strategy and planning discussions
  • Perform application testing
  • Adhere to best known best practices and processes
  • Write release notes
  • Support the Change Control process

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
  • 3-5 years of experience performing production support activities for web-based applications
  • SQL experience
  • An understanding and experience in at least one iterative development methodologies (e.g., RUP, Agile)
  • Experience developing Use Cases or other formal business requirement specifications
  • Experience with process modeling
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with testing applications
  • Effective communications skills including listening and both written and verbal communications
  • Experience with configuration management tools used to apply version control to application artifacts
  • Experience interacting with a development team including technical and business staff
  • Position requires US Citizen or lawful permanent resident with three or more years of US residency
