Your Role and Responsibilities

The Science and Technology department at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose has an immediate offering for a one year science appointment. The successful candidate will develop theories to explain the properties of cubic and tetragonally distorted Heusler alloys for the use in STT_MRAM devices and extend the modeling to multi-layer systems.

Requirements are a PhD and experience
in high precision electronic structure calculations beyond DFT -such as the QS-GW method - and in state of the art electron transport calculations. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the experimental team in Almaden.



Required Professional and Technical Expertise

Experience in high precision electronic structure calculations e.g. DFT (3 years)
Experience in theory of magnetic materials (2 years)



Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
Experience in QS-GW method (
Experience with simulating Heusler allous
Experience with materials used for MRAM (Magnetic RAM)
