Exciting opportunity for an experienced release management professional with a background in release planning, delivery, and metrics/reporting on a 10 month+ contract basis.


Position objective: The Release Analyst will assist with the definition, planning, execution, and deployment of multiple software releases to lower environments and production.

Responsible for the development of methodology, as well as executing the deployment of multiple software releases to lower environments and production.


Typical work-related activities include:


  • Engage with scrum teams during the planning phase to coordinate deployment into environments in an effort to ensure successful promotion of project features on time.
  • Contributes to a release repository and manages key information.
  • Develop and communicate release plans to ensure stakeholders (both IT & business) are engaged and expectations are effectively established and managed.
  • Understand technical risk profile to proactively identify potential risks to Production releases and impact post-deployment.
  • Validate that only approved features are contained within a release and drive the prioritization of standalone changes, assuring those with the highest severity take precedence in the current release cycle.
  • Communicate release readiness at key milestones.


  • Ensure that all code changes for lower environments and production are properly coordinated, scheduled, approved and implemented.
  • Coordinate build requests with the IT Service Delivery Lead and Configuration Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks.
  • Ensure all activities have been completed prior to code promotion.
  • Create necessary documentation for each production release.
  • Enforce release entrance and exit criteria and validate the traceability of code deployments.
  • Direct and deploy the overall release implementation, including coordinating IT support and oversee the resolution of all implementation related issues.
  • Communicate release status at key checkpoints and escalate any customer facing issues as well as issues causing potential delay in start-up to release stakeholders.


  • Identify adverse trends in quality, efficiency or risk and escalate to appropriate owners in an effort to drive continuous process improvement gains throughout the release cycle.
  • Utilize key performance indicators to generate and communicate a release scorecard to key release stakeholders.
  • Produce release announcements targeted for the business areas which communicate key functionality delivered into production.


  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  • Manage critical situations across teams to ensure the overall success of the program/project portfolio.
  • Partners with project and program teams, supporting team leaders through the initiation, implementation and close out processes of the change/release process used to deliver multiple parallel efforts.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, including researching new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.


  • 5 years of experience of hands on system application support or development
  • 3 years of previous software release and/or configuration management experience required. This includes:

    • Hands on use of agile planning tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Aha!, Jenkins
    • Solid understanding of DevOps tools and development standards
    • Demonstrated ability to plan frequent release deployments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle required
  • Solid understanding of project management principles required
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion required
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills required
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills required
  • Experience with configuration control and release management processes and tools required
  • Experience managing work via Sharepoint preferred
  • Understanding of ITIL Service Management best practice preferred
