Purpose of the Job


The Release Analyst is a critical role that includes Release Management procedures, process improvements and the execution of day-to-day coordination and facilitation activities. The Release Analyst will report on all releases as specified per service, process, department, and any other key performance indicator that will be established. Understands the Release process, procedures, work instructions, policies, required documentation and tools. Monitors, tracks, updates and closes the Release Records during appropriate points in the Release life-cycle.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities



  • Weekly Release Status upgrades for assigned releases
  • Provide release status to stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate with IT and business teams to prioritize enhancements and defects into releases
  • Participate in continuous improvement activity
  • Research, analyze, track and resolve moderately complex production problems
  • Ensure the department leverages internal tools and applications effectively
  • Build, support, and maintain moderately complex processes, programs, and data
  • Participate or lead small to medium scoped projects
  • Create moderately complex ad-hoc reports for internal usage and external usage
  • Develop programs, time estimates and project schedules based on prioritization and business requirements
  • Creates branches and performs merges in source control tool (TFS)
  • Work with code; understand code comparison and know how to perform configuration file transformation in different environments
  • Work with developers to resolve build/deployment errors
  • Knowledgeable in IIS and server application configuration
  • Assist developers with application troubleshooting
  • Basic knowledge in SQL queries
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Coordinate and communicate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists
  • Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs
  • Stay current on new developments in technology-related industries
  • Participate in corporate quality programs
  • The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements. Participate in on-call rotation
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Employment Requirements


Required Work Experience



  • 5 years of experience in technology and or application development
  • 5 years of experience working hands-on with all aspects of the SDLC
  • 5 years of experience working with multiple cross-functional teams in a highly collaborative environment.


Required Education




Preferred Work Experience



  • 5 years of experience in Release Management and Dashboard reporting
  • 3 years of experience in TFS
  • 5 years of experience working in healthcare-related systems as a business analyst or programmer
  • 5 years of experience in an AGILE environment


Preferred Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field

  • Understanding of IT-specific project practices including SDLC. And or AGILE
  • Advanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
