Position Purpose:

The Registry Services Manager is responsible for the development and administration of services for top-level domain (TLD) registry operators.

Position Summary:

The Global Domains Division (GDD) is the unit of ICANN that engages the Internet community to implement ICANN domain name policies through contracts and services. As part of the GDD, the Registry Services and Engagement Team is responsible for managing ICANN's relationships and contracts with registry operators and supporting the lifecycle of services and policies that affect registry operators. We provide services and support to the global network of registry operators to facilitate their compliance with their contractual obligations.

The Registry Services and Engagement team is looking for a self-motivated individual to define service requirements and manage the lifecycle of services including design, implementation, launch, delivery, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and experienced in working with contracts and legal documents. This position involves participation across many organizational activities and requires the individual to participate and often lead projects that require a high degree of interdisciplinary collaboration within tight timelines.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Registry Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define service requirements and manage the lifecycle of a service including the launch of new services, and incremental improvements to existing services, with assistance from supervisors or senior staff.
  • Partner with the operations team to ensure the design and delivery of the service meet the intent of the service definition.
  • Interface with technical, operational, legal and other cross-functional teams to define service requirements and manage exceptions and escalations when required.
  • Be the registry service expert; be able to understand, represent, and communicate ICANN’s position on an issue to both internal and external audiences with assistance from senior staff or supervisor.
  • Compose written materials required for internal and external audiences to support the launch or implementation of a service or service related activity.
  • Maintain a network of effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and provide regular metrics to manage, measure, and report progress to key stakeholders, management, and staff.
  • Achieve functional consistency and accuracy through documented processes and procedures.
  • Act as a registry advocate within ICANN and represent their needs to other teams across the organization.

  • Utilizes basic project management fundamentals to plan and execute your work.
  • Be an exceptional team player and comfortable in working in a highly diverse, multicultural, and dynamic environment.
  • Have a willingness and desire to learn and apply knowledge to your role.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies, organizational and procedural changes and to work independently with minimal supervision on complex, non-routine issues.
  • Multilingual or bilingual preferred, with ideally one of the six UN official languages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English language.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and is committed to seeing tasks through to completion.
  • Effectively prioritizes own work such that she/he is prepared and able to meet work objective and escalates issues to senior management as necessary.
  • Active listening skills in daily interactions with internal and external stakeholders around the globe.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and eight years of experience; a master’s degree with six years of experience.
  • Knowledge of and Experience working in the domain name industry is a plus.
  • Prior international experience is a plus.
