Quality Technician - Rochester, NY (East)

Great opportunity to join a solid organization with an established and successful product line.

The main objective of this role is to maintain product quality standards by evaluating incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products. Record and maintain records with results and data from inspection activities. Interact with Engineering and Production departments to ensure acceptable product and processes. Oversee the Quality Lab and ensure maintenance and calibration of measurement equipment. Follow recognized quality standards and propose improvements to procedures and methods.


Job Functions:

  • Approve incoming materials, in-process production, and finished product through established inspections and measurements to evaluate conformance with specifications. Follow established procedures for quarantine of non-conforming materials and documenting issues, and reporting findings to Quality, Production and Engineering management for disposition
  • Operate the CMM and use inspection tools and equipment to perform measurements on components
  • Maintain records of measurement data and inspection results by completing designated reports and logs. Input data into the Quality database and designated Drives
  • Maintain measurement equipment and follow instructions for use. Maintain calibration logs and records
  • Quarantine and report need for repair of any damaged or out-of-calibration equipment. Manage annual re-calibration of measurement equipment through outside services
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment in the Quality Lab by following standards and procedures. Comply with legal regulations

  • Experience in managing and maintaining calibration schedules of laboratory metrology equipment
  • Prior use of statistical data analysis tools in analyzing and presenting measurement data
  • Familiarity with recognized ISO and/or other quality system standards and techniques (e.g. PPAP, 8D reports, etc)
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Access

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

  • AAS degree or equivalent in applicable technical field
  • GD&T ASME Y14.5 certification at technologist level. Certification to 2009 standard preferred
  • Proficient (3+ years) with Nikon CMM-Manager software and/or PCDMIS
  • Experience with Prolink SPC data collection and analysis software
  • Proficient in statistical analysis of data and use of SPC
  • Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
