Python Developer is responsible for the design, implementation and optimization of cloud management and automation solutions within our client's Platform Engineering team. Primary responsibility is to develop orchestration automation tooling for a self-service provisioning ecosystem within private and public clouds. This includes process development, infrastructure design, system implementation and configuration of cloud implementation solutions consumed by internal departments; service catalog development and integration of automated server, network and storage provisioning, application and platform stack deployment, charge/show-back, measured utilization and capacity management. As a member of the Orchestration Engineering team, you will be involved in IT infrastructure projects that optimize current services as well as deploy and integrate new technologies for our client, including solutions to mature virtualization and cloud offerings. As a Python Developer, you will contribute to the overall success of the Global Hosting Services team by providing recommendations and insight into the technological paths toward the automation of infrastructure services.

Job Description

Work with global infrastructure teams to develop the enterprise internal & external cloud strategic vision, integration strategy and long-term growth plan

Coordinate with Platform, Storage, Networking, NOC, Configuration Management and Software Development teams to develop a highly-extensible cloud service environment that can be adopted and integrated in a wide range of scenarios through portal interfaces and web api services

Function as a technical expert on cloud infrastructure projects pertaining to the automation, orchestration and provisioning of infrastructure-as-a-service solutions supporting Windows and Linux based servers in private and public cloud environments

Work as part of an Automated Provisioning and Configuration Management team responsible for integrating VMware, OpenStack, Puppet Labs, Ansible and external cloud provider services to further develop and enhance the global IT departments IaaS, PaaS and SaaS related services

Assist with the development of the service request model through a service catalog, measured utilization, chargeback methodologies, capacity management, service level management and reporting solutions

Evaluate architectural alternatives and set the technical strategy for the underpinning elements cloud and automation services

Process development, communication planning, and technology solutions architecture to meet business requirements

Perform infrastructure service implementations, performance analysis and optimization, monitoring, problem resolution, upgrade planning and execution, and process creation and documentation

Participate in cloud based services planning, design, and implementation; particularly in monitoring and management of systems that may live outside the organization, including third-party cloud service providers

Ensure high service availability & reliability of all cloud and platform infrastructure services


Qualifications & Experience

3-5 years of Python experience

Experience with one or more of the following frameworks:

- Bottle

- Flask

- Django


- Interacting with vCenter vms in a VMware environment

- vCenter API

- Python to build and or manage AWS instances

Experience with one or more of the following libraries:

- Libcloud

- pyVmomi

- Boto
