IMMEDIATE NEED!!.....Client involved in heavy industrial construction projects is looking for a couple Assistant Project Managers/Assistant Construction Managers to support Electric Substation and Transmission & Distribution engineering & construction projects in the Baltimore, MD area. You need 2-6 years of engineering and/or construction project experience related to some sort of heavy industrial EPC projects, ideally T&D or Substation. Client prefers candidates local to Windsor Mill, MD area or within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities for the Project Manager

  • Assist the Project Manager with estimating, procuring, managing & negotiating equipment and labor contracts for heavy industrial construction projects.
  • Participate in and contribute to the project status meeting
  • Work in the office 90% and the field 10% of the time
  • Work with government agencies and public authorities as required to provide support for land surveying and mapping
  • Manage procurement documentation for all contractors to be hired (e.g., scopes of work, technical specifications, bid evaluations, etc...)
  • Responsibile for contract compliance and administration on contracts associated with the project
  • Provide support during construction to respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) and coordinate with required groups to prepare final as-built drawings
  • Support testimony and attendance to public meetings as required to support the permitting process
  • Coordinate with the client's Engineer to facilitate final review when all design is complete
  • Manage project estimates, budgets and costs, provide explanations for Monthly Variances
  • Acknowledge budget changes by signing budget change orders
  • Responsible for coordinating the testing and commissioning process, participates in decision-making (including signing off on all plans) and serves as the primary client nterface for issue resolution

Requirements for the Project Manager

  • 2-6 years of engineering and/or construction experience on heavy industrial EPC projects.
  • You either need experience as a Project Engineer, Construction Engineer, Assistant Project Manager or Jr. Project Manager supporting some sort of heavy industrial type EPC project
  • You need some experience with any of the following project related areas: management of siting, permitting, engineering, estimating, real estate, project outreach, scheduling, procurement, project controls, contract administration, safety, and field operations,
  • BS degree in Engineering or Construction Management is needed, BSCE preferred
  • Ability to bid and manage equipment and labor contracts
  • Experience with substation or electrical T&D is a strong plus
