Project Manager, Market Planning & Research

Job Summary
Responsible for providing project management leadership on unbiased analytical research and strategies to support the implementation of corporate goals. Collaborates with company divisions to develop strategies that proactively ensure Walgreen’s growth in top line sales, profits and market share. Targets new and existing growth opportunities leveraging internal and external data resources and develop methodology using the most advanced GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology, as well as proprietary business, analytic, and statistical models. May be responsible for the training and development of staff on these resources internally and in other departments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Drives results and change through innovation in research methods and insights about performance in changing retail and healthcare industries. Develops capabilities by staying abreast of new developments.
  • Collaborates and meets with executives and business owners to create and prioritize strategic market-level and business unit specific growth plans and goals OR to create and prioritize geographic information and analysis needs.
  • Ensures understanding of analysis of the factors which after supply, demand and positioning of the business units.
  • Seeks opportunities, proactively, to add critical value to clients, markets, strategic programs, and company. Facilitates the implementation of strategic recommendations with key executive clients.
  • May oversee the research of new data sources and methods to further analyze attributes that help better service the customer and to assess competition.
  • Develops innovative methodology to support planning and deployment of Walgreens key strategies, which may include mergers and acquisitions, new store growth, ancillary services, healthcare, and store concept optimization or ensures the development and maintenance of demographic, customer, and third party data and models.
  • May develop and apply analytical methods to quantify competitive threats and identify opportunities to increase market share.
  • Manages research projects across a range of business issues, from start to finish, within budget and on time to meet business units’ needs. Collaborates with internal teams to identify opportunities and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Creates and presents impactful, concise presentations to executive management.
  • May train and coach team members in the use and implementation of Market Planning & Research methodologies and strategies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience in a quantitative or analytical role, or a High School Diploma/ GED and at least 6 years in a quantitative or analytical role.
  • At least 1 year project management experience (planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
  • At least 1 year of experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
