 Product Management is an ongoing process of improvement that requires a strategic vision and establishment of OKRs (objectives and key results) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate continued health of the product(s), while always making sure the product roadmap is in line with corporate/business goals.

The Product Manager serves as the “voice” of the product and “user/customer”, responsible for shaping the vision and strategy for the company’s martech products and working closely with our restaurant tech and off-premises vertical product team members.

This individual will be required to continually meet with business stakeholders to make sure there is appropriate buy in for product roadmap features and overall product direction.  A key focus will be on making data driven decisions, where possible and appropriate. The individual will own the work and prioritization that the assigned to scrum team will work on sprint to sprint, being the face of the team to outside business stakeholders.  This includes making sure there is an always up-to-date product backlog, and that user stories and acceptance criteria are fully articulated and in alignment with the needs of the business and the vision of the product.  An obsession with the end user/customer is a key mantra of the role, with the expectation that the product manager becomes the marquee subject matter expert (SME) on anything related to the product.

Responsibilities:

  •  Defines and manages the product vision and strategy for martech products, as well as making sure alignment with other products in our restaurant tech and off-premises verticals. 
  • Creates and maintains a robust product roadmap and product backlog specifically for the assigned to scrum team.
  • Relentless at prioritizing and soliciting feedback on roadmap and backlog priorities.
  • Keen at lobbying for and eliciting buy in from stakeholders for the product vision, strategy and features.
  • Persistent collaboration and communication with business stakeholders to make sure there is continued alignment in everything related to the product, building strong business relationships to deliver on product vision.
  • Manages the business case and ROI of a new product enhancement/feature, working closely with business sponsors and representatives.
  • Defines the minimal viable product (MVP).
  • Must have a keen sense of the competitive landscape and what end user/customer needs are.
  • Persistent use of data and analytics to make data-driven product decisions. Understands product value and ties product metrics to business goals.
  • Must help drive due diligence around new solutions related to new martech capabilities, some currently in flight and other needs that may come along the way.
  • Collaborates with assigned to scrum team to make sure sprint activities are properly executed on.
  • Key participant in sprint planning, responsible for prioritization of work, clarifying user stories and acceptance criteria to the team, and using various collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Smartsheets, etc.)
  • Persistent review and grooming of product backlog, making sure a cadence is being followed for collaboration sessions with key stakeholders.
  • Readily available to team resources as need be to clarify user stories, resolve issues, collaborate, and remove impediments when needed.
  • Comfortable presenting and clearly articulating the work that has been completed in a sprint to an audience of product team members and business stakeholders across the enterprise during sprint reviews.
  • Might be required to manage a team of product owners, inclusive of responsibilities to hire, terminate, develop, coach, and motivate team members; identify staff development needs and provides educational/training opportunities.

Requirements

 

Skills & Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree.  MBA is preferred. 
  • 5+ years in a product management function.
  • 3+ years working within a product owner function in a scrum team, preferably in the restaurant technology space (though not a requirement).
  • 3+ years of direct work experience in martech.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) are a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Obsessed with the needs of the end user/customer, collaborating with stakeholders, and maintaining the product roadmap and product backlog.
  • Highly team oriented.
  • Willing to be both a planner and executer of work; entrepreneurial mindset and willing to roll up sleeves to get stuff done
  • Strong leadership is a must to drive product excellence and the agile team toward timely delivery of solutions.
  • Strong sense of humility, openness and transparency.
  • Collaborative and open to new ideas, but willing to stand ground to make sure work gets done in a timely manner.
  • Problem solving with both tactical and strategic thinking and ability to influence others.
  • Enjoy working in an agile development and high-paced environment.
  • Experience with tools like Jira and Smartsheets, and roadmapping tools like Product Plan or Roadmunk.
  • Ability to work and be effective during phases of “storming” when processes are being developed.  
  • Strong at multi-tasking.
  • Passionate about product management.
