Digital Technical Support Engineer


This role serves as the primary technical support lead for all web portal and mobile applications. Responsible for technical support, implementation and maintenance of enterprise level web and mobile systems and technologies. Individual must possess detailed systems knowledge in multiple technical areas, and be comfortable participating in a variety of technical activities-including operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, system integration, testing, and security.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provide overall technical production and operational support of all web portal/mobile applications
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot, determine root cause and restore normal operation to web portal and mobile applications
  • Management of production incidents per established processes
  • Facilitate engagement with an outsourced team of technical resources and ensure compliance with client's standards for quality and delivery
  • Participate in platform technology upgrade & patching events, including verification/validation testing
  • Ensure that positive/negative testing is carried out according to documented requirements and business processes
  • Expert familiarity with Portal & Mobile integration patterns and troubleshooting front-end issues through to back end
  • Custom scripting to monitor environment and proactively report anomalies before they become production incidents



  • Identify problems and risks and create and execute on contingency plans
  • Take immediate action when confronted with a problem or when made aware of a situation
  • Provide management reporting metrics and assess and recommend areas for improvement


Education and Experience



  • College degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience
  • Requires 3+ years of directly related work experience; experience with healthcare insurance (ie BCBS, Tufts Health Plan, etc) systems preferred
  • Managing to SLAs
  • Resolving problems using rigorous logic and methodical approach



  • Proactively driving complex technical issues to resolution
  • Leading and making decisions with minimal oversight

  • Superb problem solving ability with tenacious follow up on outstanding issues
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced delivery/deadline oriented environment



  • Ability to communicate clearly, confidently and directly with technical and business resources (written and verbal)

  • Solid initiative, driven self-starter with strong analytical skills


Technical Qualifications:



  • Exposure to Java, J2EE, and Angular web application design, development of servlets, Java Server Pages, JSTL and good understanding of MVC framework and Enterprise patterns
  • Exposure to mobile application development environments and protocols
  • Understanding of SQL development, database design and database-related concepts - Experience with Oracle 9i/10g/11g, SQL Server and DB2 a plus
  • Exposure to XML and web services standards like SOAP, WSDL, XPATH, XSLT
  • May have experience with Tivoli Security products (Webseal, TAM, LDAP), Sun One Access Manager, Sun One Directory Server, Sun One Identity Manager, Teamsite, IBM Data Power, IIB and SAML 1.1/2.0 protocols, Seebeyond, MQ, Oracle suite of products
  • Exposure to mainframe environments/applications a plus
