JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Technology Services Manager, the PC Support Technician will assist end users with issues arising from everyday computer use. On occasion and as directed by the Technology Services Manager, this role will be required to travel to company sites for hands-on troubleshooting and solution delivery. Work activities can be performed either remotely or on-site. The PC Support Technician will be expected to; provide Tier I technical support for various IT related issues. (e.g. hardware/software upgrades, maintenance, printing, scanning, email, faxing, PC / Mac connectivity, and network issues). Escalate problems to Tier II support as necessary. This individual will work with both our after-hour remote helpdesk and the PC Network Technician. Additionally, this individual will exhibit a high degree of passion, self-motivation, the ability to interact and communicate well with a diverse end-user population, and deliver superior customer service beyond just meeting expectations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:



  • Setup, install and configure various work stations with hardware and software solutions; install new software, upgrades, patches and resolves software related problems
  • Empower and educate end users on technology applications, and security best practices
  • Respond to helpdesk requests using a ticketing system with predefined priorities and policies for handling and escalating issues
  • Ensure computer equipment is imaged and configured to conform to established standards
  • Create and maintain technical and user knowledgebase documentation
  • Correlate and implement technology solutions that align with customer needs
  • Productively consult with coworkers and vendors when difficulties are encountered
  • Provide on-call support as directed and determined by Technology Services Manager
  • Participate in system / application maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting as necessary, with outside vendors and internal personnel
  • Maintain security related software, ensuring the timely distribution of upgrades and patches to desktops, laptops, tablets and servers
  • Perform other duties as assigned


ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • 5 years of IT support experience in mid-sized to large company
  • High school diploma, 2 years of computer science education preferred
  • Basic knowledge of networking (e.g. IP addressing, DNS, network cabling, internet, etc)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft OS's (both server and workstations)
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications



  • Ability to explain and distill technical ideas and details to non-technical personnel for their level of understanding



  • Demonstrate a strong passion to deliver superior customer service to end-users
  • Strong work ethic and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and communication/listening skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to define and develop viable proactive alternatives and solutions to problems
  • Ability to maintain: 1) reliable and safe transportation to other company facilities 2) valid California driver's license, 3) proper vehicle registration, and 4) California's minimum automobile insurance coverage requirement
