Jobs on Google is an immersive within Google Search that exposes jobs for hire. Companies who host jobs, whether they are aggregators, job distributors, or the hiring companies themselves, can apply structured data markup to their websites for Google to crawl.


As a Technical Specialist, you will support a variety of processes/workflows under the Jobs on Google operation. You will leverage your knowledge of Unix, FTP, and XML to support partner content problems that are identified. Communicate with stakeholders to understand the most pressing business needs.


Skill Set: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and any programming language (C, C++, Java)


Top Daily Responsibilities:


Monitor support channels (email & forums) and provide high quality support to internal and external partners


Analyze tech support and product adoption metrics, identifying trends and areas of improvement


Creating reporting dashboards; setting up and maintaining data processing pipelines


Escalating issues and compiling community reports on a regular basis


Create internal documentation to educate and answer questions.


Communicate and participate on project forums


Requirements:


Excellent written communication skills - able to communicate complex technical language to technical and non-technical publishers. Must have the ability to empathize with frustrated publishers seeking help.


Solid technical background - strong grasp of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and overall familiarity with the Web. Experience setting up, customizing, and maintaining a website, such as with an open source CMS.


Strong analytical skills - able to query data using SQL and create compelling visuals to analyze trends and make recommendations


Excellent troubleshooting skills - experience diagnosing web application and network issues using tools such as Chrome DevTools or UNIX command line


Familiarity with functional testing of software - able to write test plans, create test cases and report results for various stakeholders.


Attention to detail - able to escalate issues, notice trends and suggest policy/process changes. Can follow a detailed test plan, documenting results, filing bugs, and suggesting improvements.


Nice to Haves:


Familiarity with one or more programming languages (C, C++, Java, BASH/shell scripting, etc.)


Knowledge of web crawling or web scraping and relevant Google tools (Search Console, Google Analytics, Structured Data)
