Data Specialist Intern

About the Position

The Data Specialist Intern is a key member of the Finance department and Financial Analytics team. The Data Specialist Intern is responsible for providing ongoing support for end users of data in the CFO division to assist with reporting and analytical needs. An important part of this role is supporting the conversion of design and creation of reporting and analysis into production-ready products for the end-users of financial analytics and reporting. This role will also utilize the SAS business intelligence tools in support of actionable strategies that support the LGFCU balance sheet.

Normal Day-to-Day Work
  1. Provide root cause analysis to understand why data discrepancies occurred, additional impacts and what can be done to prevent in the future.
  2. Work with data analysts to prevent future discrepancies and streamline process.
  3. Develop knowledge of Finance processes and functions. Becomes a subject matter expert.
  4. Utilize both internal and external data to benchmark and understand trends.
  5. Expand and enhance data and analytic capabilities, continue to improve processes, explore/adopt new tools and drive automation and scripting.
  6. Standardize and integrate reports and analysis while ensuring all end-user needs are met in a consistent and timely fashion.
  7. Support program and development in Base SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Visual Analytics.
  8. Ensure inventory of standard reports and analysis are regularly updated, optimized and improved as strategies and business needs change.
  9. Create dashboards and reports to ensure end users have the appropriate information to drive business strategies and decisions.


Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
  1. Currently working toward a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience and/or interest working on data analysis or data management.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  3. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  4. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  5. Travel required on occasion.


Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to make you more suited for this position.
  1. Knowledge and experience using SAS Enterprise Guide and Visual Analytics are a plus.
  2. Knowledge of Base SAS and relational database concepts.
  3. Proficient in data analytics.
  4. Familiarity with financial institutions and related data is a plus.
  5. Advanced knowledge in Excel is a plus.
