Job Description

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining datacenter space and optimization plans for INTERNATIONAL data center locations in EMEA and APAC. This position exists to fully utilize the critical raised floor space and power in international satellite data centers. This individual must be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instruction, implement and maintain a target operating model designed to document, track and forecast space and power requirements.

This position will provide consulting and design services to our internal partners for data center space and power optimization, IT equipment placement, and telecommunications pathways, spaces and cable plant design projects. The position will require that the candidate actively participate in and complete deliverables for several projects at the same time while ensuring accuracy and high quality work is being delivered to our clients.

Exposure and intermediate understanding of structured cabling and network concepts is required. Must be able to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplined DCM team, leveraging relationships and cross functional resources for success.

This position reports directly to the Data Center Planning & Engineering (DCPE) Manager and is accountable for the optimization of power, space and airflow in assigned INTERNATIONAL data center sites that fall under the governance of the Enterprise Data Center Management group.

The position must be located in either central or eastern time zone to support sites in EMEA and APAC.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of operating systems analysis experience, operating systems engineering experience, or a combination of both
  • 7+ years of data center experience
  • 7+ years of experience in raised floor planning for data centers
  • 7+ years of experience with data center space planning including power and airflow optimization

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of data center: planning
  • Basic knowledge of data center mechanical and electrical systems and a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Visio
  • Knowledge of data center equipment (Server, Storage, Network)
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical hardware: systems engineering, testing and analysis of data center physical computing systems (cabling, network, and storage and server equipment)
  • Experience operating effectively in a geographically dispersed organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of Physical layer infrastructure in a raised floor data center environment
  • Certified Data Center Energy Professional (CDCEP)
  • Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCDP)
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
